LSAMP is dedicated to increasing the number of underrepresented students in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
Seven upstate institutions have joined forces to support your success by providing: funding, research opportunities, academic enhancement, and mentoring services. The Upstate LSAMP is a part of the National LSAMP program and is supported by a grant from the National Science Foundation.

So sad that this is the last week for the LSAMP summer research program. Please join us on Thursday, August 8th at the SOURCE Research Symposium from 10am-12pm in the Panasci Lounge of the Schine Student Center. The scholars have done awesome work this summer. Let’s celebrate them!

On June 3rd, we kicked off our ten-week Summer Research Program. The participants are LSAMP students from Onondaga Community College, SUNY Cortland and Syracuse University. During the first week, students made vision boards to identify things that they had in common. During week 2, the students began learning about the graduate school application process.

This Facebook memory warms my heart. In the height of uncertainty with the COVID-19 pandemic and many programs being paused or cancelled, my team and I did not want to cancel on the students. The LSAMP research students wanted to continue and presented their work at a virtual research symposium. This just shows how awesome these students, now alumni are!
This was the first of many virtual presentations that we held over the next several years. This was also a great opportunity for their families to be included in the celebration.
If you are on campus on Friday, April 26th, we will be hosting our 2024 Research Symposium from 10:30am-12pm in 319 Sims Hall. Please join us in celebrating the students.

This week, we recognized our graduating seniors. In the fall, they will start doctoral and master’s programs, and careers in industry. It warmed my heart to hear them talk about how being a part of LSAMP and NSBE has greatly impacted their lives. They used words such as community, family, encouragement, connection, belonging, and someone who cared about them. I’m already crying and graduation hasn’t even come yet.
