This year’s keynote speaker, Sean Douglas, is a retired U.S. Air Force leader, Certified Master Resilience Trainer and speaker who draws from his military service and personal experiences to help others build resilience and rediscover hope, purpose and identity.

The event will also include an interactive panel discussion and a resource fair connecting attendees with social and mental health support services.

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We honor the courage of the first responders, service members and ordinary people who answered tragedy with extraordinary acts of bravery and compassion. We also recognize the families, survivors and military-connected communities who have carried the impact of that day through the 25 years since.

As a new generation learns about September 11 through the stories we share, we remain committed to remembering those we lost and honoring all those who served and sacrificed in the years that followed.

We will never forget.

On the eve of the 25th anniversary of September 11, members of the IVMF community share where they were that morning and how the events of that day shaped their lives, their families and their service.

Some watched the news from home. Others were stationed on military installations, beginning basic training or preparing for what they thought would be an ordinary day. Each remembers the disbelief and uncertainty, but also what followed: people coming together to help, support and serve one another.

As firsthand memories of September 11 become history for a new generation, sharing these stories is one way we keep our promise to never forget.
