The Mogen David of Barth on the Baltic

This site is dedicated to my father, who officiated and organized the only regular Jewish services in N**i Germany during World War II amidst the Holocaust. My book on this event is being published and will be available by Rosh Hashanah. Please friend me or like this site, and I will put you on a mailing list for the book. The price of the book has not been set as yet, but it is to cover the expenses of publication and distribution. My intent is to tell this little known but tremendously important true story of defiance at the height of the Holocaust and to honor my father. I currently have some documents and artifacts on loan to the U.S. Holocaust Museum. I have also donated hundreds of Yiddish books to the National Yiddish Book Center. I kept some of the most interesting books, including books by Moses Mendelssohn, Rashi, Y.L. (Yud Lamed) Peretz, Sholem Aleichem (who grew up with my grandfather in Pereyaslav, now in Ukraine, Yiddish translations of great literary works, science books, sheet music from the Yiddish Theatre and the complete works of many more famous Yiddish writers and storytellers, from Chaim Nachman Bialik to Solomon Simon. Solomon Simon is famous for his books on the Wise Men of Chelm, but few know that he translated the entire Five Books of Moses into Yiddish. My father's story is among the many stories that must be told and passed on l'dor v'dor (from generation to generation). Again, please send me a friend request or like this page and I will notify you when the book becomes available and zein gezunt.
