Many student veterans don't have the same support system that traditional students do when applying to college.

There may not be a guidance counselor walking them through applications or someone helping them compare schools and understand enrollment requirements. Often times, they're figuring it out on their own while preparing for a major life transition.

In the latest episode of Orange Guidon, retired Army veteran and Syracuse University Director of Transfer and Veteran Admissions Scott Taylor talks about why reaching out to an admissions office early can make a big difference.

"Have somebody that's in your corner there to help you understand the process."

This year, our community awarded $245,000 in scholarships and emergency funding, commissioned 26 cadets, and celebrated 50 student veterans becoming Syracuse University alumni.

Behind those numbers are students like Anthony Ruscitto '22, G'23, L'27.

A Marine veteran, Pat Tillman Foundation Scholar, and current Syracuse University College of Law student, Anthony received support through the Veteran Legacy Fund and is now preparing for a summer internship with the Onondaga County District Attorney's Office's Office.
