Syracuse University veterans and currently serving students are invited to submit their resumes for inclusion in OVMA’s Resume Book. The book will be shared with employers across corporate, nonprofit and government sectors seeking candidates for internships, co-ops and full-time positions.

The opportunity is open to undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students of all majors who identify as veterans, ROTC cadets, active-duty service members or members of the National Guard or Reserve.

During yesterday's men's football Military Appreciation Game against the California Golden Bears, the university honored U.S. Army Colonel Adam J. "AJ" Florkowski. Florkowski graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1999 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant into the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

After multiple assignments, including more than a year-long deployment to Iraq from 2006 to 2007, he transitioned to the U.S. Army Reserve.

Florkowski now works at Syracuse University, leading the Micron Program Management Office, and was awarded the Chancellor's Medal for his contributions to the university's COVID response.

Congratulations AJ, and thank you to all who came out to honor our service members and veterans.

Syracuse University's Men's Football team's Military Appreciation Game tonight highlighted our military-connected community. From ROTC students participating on the field and our Hometown Hero recognition to veterans from our local community being honored and veteran staff members getting slimed.

A special shout-out to those ROTC cadets who took the Oath of Office on the field prior to the game!

We appreciate all of the veterans who came out to cheer on the Orange at the JMA Wireless Dome, and look forward to seeing all of you back on campus at The Best Place for Veterans!

Stay tuned over the next few days as we continue to share images from this incredible day celebrating the university's historic commitment to those who serve!

What a great day for a tailgate! Today the OVMA welcomed veterans and military families to campus for the Stars & Stripes Tailgate prior to the SU Men's Football military appreciation game.

We want to say thank you to everyone who came out to join the festivities and enjoy a great afternoon with us!

It's a great day for a tailgate! Looking forward to welcoming our military-connected community from the region to campus today ahead of the military appreciation game at the JMA Wireless Dome! Go Orange! 🍊

This morning, members of our military-connected community, including student veterans, veteran staff members, and members of the local Team RWB, joined the Syracuse University Ambulance to honor the fallen first responders in New York City on 9-11 with a stair climb event inside the JMA Wireless Dome.

Each participant carried a photo and the name of a fallen firefighter with them as they climbed the equivalent of 110 stories and raised money to support the Fallen Firefighters Foundation.

Today, on the 25th anniversary of September 11, we remember the 2,977 lives lost, honor the courage of our nation’s first responders and recognize the service and sacrifice of the military-connected community in the years that followed.

The Syracuse University Office of Veteran and Military Affairs stands with all those who continue to carry the memory and impact of that day.

We will never forget.

This week, the Syracuse University community will come together to mark 25 years since the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

We invite our campus and Central New York communities to join us in honoring the 2,977 lives lost, including 30 Syracuse University alumni, and recognizing the first responders, service members, veterans and military families shaped by the events of that day.

Remembrance events begin Sept. 11 with an interfaith memorial service at Hendricks Chapel at Syracuse University and a Memorial Stair Climb and Walk at the JMA Wireless Dome. Additional events will continue through Sept. 14.

Last night Syracuse University honored U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Scott Wegener as the Hometown Hero during the Men's Soccer match against St. John's University.

SFC Wegener enlisted in the Army in 2009 and became a Financial Management Technician. After his most recent assignment in Fort Hood, Texas, Wegener reported to Syracuse University to attend the Defense Comptrollership Program at the Whitman School of Management, where he will earn both an MBA and an MPA.
