will reduce the amount of member information it shares with “ brokers,” companies that collect data for advertiser targeting. The move is part of a series of changes in the wake of a scandal involving analysis firm Cambridge Analytica, which reportedly accessed data for up to 50 million Facebook users. Over the next few weeks, members will also be able to more easily see and adjust some of the data being tracked about them. The social network is under investigation by regulators including the FTC.
Facebook Limiting Information Shared With Data Brokers

More robots - more of faster-updated data to analyze for us! 📈🤔
Robots: In a Walmart aisle near you.
The world’s largest retailer has expanded its shelf-scanning robot program to 50 stores across four states. The machines can scan an aisle in about 90 seconds, checking for out-of-stock items, incorrect prices, missing labels, or products moved by customers. Walmart has also tested a self-driving scrubber — the devices come equipped with some of the same technology used in self-driving cars. The retailer says the robots are designed to free up workers’ time rather than replace human staff.

Analytics of gender discrimination!
Offices are more accepting of working mothers — but the perception of discrimination hasn’t changed, according to a Wall Street Journal/NBC survey. 78% of U.S. adults surveyed think it’s a good thing that more women have careers while raising children, up from 46% in 2000. But when asked if men treat women as equals in the workplace, 61% of women and 43% of men said no. Those figures haven’t dropped since 1999, nor has the percentage of women who said they’ve experienced discrimination.
Working Mothers Gain Acceptance, But Perceptions of Sexism Persist, Poll Shows
Working mothers have gained widespread acceptance in the U.S. over the last two decades, but there has been little change in the perception of sexism and gender inequities in the workplace, a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll has found.

What do you, guys, think of boxes helping understand information better? 📊📈📉
*****************************************
“The key to innovation is not about thinking outside-the-box. It’s about rejecting the idea of boxes,” says Rakuten CEO Hiroshi Mikitani. “Boxes” help us understand large amounts of information, but those lines between disciplines and categories are increasingly blurry. There’s a better way:
“We are past the era of the box. We are now in the time of innovation. Instead of thinking about lines and ways to cross them, think about new combinations and innovations they can create together.”
Why Telling Someone to “Think Outside of the Box” Never Works
At a recent meeting, someone asked me: “Mickey, how do you come up with out-of-the-box ideas?” I answered: “I don’t have a box.” Outside-the-box

Political leaders on both sides of the Atlantic are clamoring for investigations into the alleged misuse of Facebook member data. Information from as many as 50 million Facebook users is believed to have been “harvested” by Cambridge Analytica, a Trump campaign vendor, according to media reports over the weekend. The U.K. has summoned Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to give evidence on the political analysis firm’s activity, and the EU plans to investigate as well. Bloomberg also reports that the FTC intends to probe Facebook for violating a “consent decree” around user information.
