The SUNY Upstate Medical University Health Sciences Library proudly congratulates Abigail Smith, MSLIS, AHIP, on receiving the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Librarianship.
Smith, assistant director of Research and Instruction, has provided nine years of outstanding service to Upstate. In her current role, she leads research and instruction initiatives, supports evidence-based practice and clinical care, and provides expert literature searching and evidence-synthesis services.
An internationally recognized expert in complex search strategy, Smith is an appointed member of the Cochrane Collaboration and a designated World Health Organization expert. She is a prolific scholar and has co-authored 23 peer-reviewed publications over the past five years. Beyond campus, she holds regional leadership roles as the chair of the Upstate New York and Ontario Chapter (UNYOC) of the Medical Library Association and serves on the Board of Trustees for the Central New York Library Resources Council (CLRC).
Through her passion, leadership, and global expertise, Ms. Smith continues to elevate the academic reputation of SUNY Upstate Medical University. Congratulations, Abigail, on this well-deserved honor!
