Syracuse Alumnae Chapter was recognized in a BIG way last month as we celebrated our Fortitude Award Winners and honored 15 outstanding High School Scholars.
At our 50th May Week Celebration, SAC received two incredible acknowledgments:
🔺Official Recognition from the Onondaga County Legislature for our 50th May Week Scholarship & Awards Luncheon
🔺 A Proclamation from the City of Syracuse declaring May 16, 2026, as Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Day
Thank you Onondaga County Legislature Majority Leader Nodesia H. Hernandez and Mayor of the City of Syracuse, Sharon Owens for the incredible recognition.
We proudly celebrate this historic moment and reflect on the joy, sisterhood, and service captured in a few cherished memories from that day.

Happy Pride Month to our sorors, partners, and friends!
Delta Sigma Theta has always stood for love, inclusion, and respecting the full dignity of every person. While we remain anchored in that legacy, we also acknowledge the need to continue to evolve with intention by championing affirming policies, and forging a culture where every member is seen, valued, and protected.
This Pride Month, we honor and celebrate the beautiful diversity and strength of the LGBTQ+ community and reaffirm our commitment to being allies in the fight for a better future where the freedom to love and exist in one's authentic identity is not contingent on the political climate. Especially when that freedom is being challenged, we choose to show up louder, love harder, and stand firmer in our commitment to justice for all.

Last weekend, the Syracuse Alumnae Chapter proudly highlighted fifteen phenomenal scholars and three remarkable Marjorie Dowdell Fortitude Award recipients during the 50th Annual May Week Scholarship & Awards Luncheon in partnership with The Delta Torch Foundation.
In total, $19,500 in scholarship funds were awarded, including one four‑year scholarship in honor of the occasion.
Thank you to May Week Committee members for a job well done:
Co-Chairs Daphene Johnson and Tanya Paul-Sheperd, MD;
Fortitude Chair: Theresa Harper; and
Scholarship Chair: Debra H. Schoening
We also extend heartfelt gratitude to our generous donors and event sponsors, whose support made these scholarships and this celebration possible.
Here are a few of our favorite moments. Thank you to our community for showing up, cheering on our honorees, and helping us celebrate fifty years of impact.
