What a fantastic night at Citi Field. From Coach Felisha Legette-Jack’s first pitch to the postgame fireworks, it was amazing to spend a fun evening with so many Orange alumni, families and friends!

We are all saddened to learn of the passing of Arents Award winner Bob Miron ’59. The Arents is the highest honor bestowed by Syracuse University’s Alumni Association.

Syracuse University celebrates the life of Robert J. ‘Bob’ Miron ’59, dedicated trustee, trusted advisor and generous donor who, with his wife, Diane, impacted the University for generations to come. Miron passed away on July 29, 2026, at the age of 89.

“Bob was far more than a generous donor. For decades he served as a trusted adviser to University leaders, and he never stopped showing up for this institution," says Chancellor J. Michael Haynie. “Bob’s own experience at Syracuse shaped a lifelong commitment to giving back, and that commitment touched countless students and programs across this university. He was kind and humble and generous with his time, and Syracuse is better for having known him.”

From senior thesis to movie script...

🎬 Nine years ago, Matt Sacca '19 wrote a movie script for his Newhouse School at Syracuse University senior thesis. Now it's on the verge of becoming a real feature film.

"Second First Date" follows Nora, who falls for the man of her dreams at a house party, only for him to suffer a concussion and forget she exists. So she schemes to recreate their entire chance encounter, moment by moment, to win him back.

Sound familiar? Sacca wrote that same never-give-up spirit into his own story. His script, born in a Newhouse "Script-to-Screen" course, is now set to be picked up by movie production company American High.

"Who would have ever thought my thesis project would turn into my first feature film?" Sacca says. "I'm excited thinking about where this can go."

🍊 🏀 It was a loss for Boeheim’s Army on the court, but an absolute win for Jack, who’s the son of 2002 grad Brian Neal.

Brian reports, “All the guys were so nice to Jack after a tough loss. After the game, we hung around near the court because we heard some of the players might come out. Soon after, two team staff members came over and said ‘come back with us!’ and invited us back to the locker room. It was pretty amazing. Jack was so pumped, but you know I was pumped too!”

Bravo to Brian for raising Jack right—and a huge thank you to these alumni players for showing a young fan what it means to be Orange. 🧡
