Norton College of Medicine leadership, faculty, students and staff have been putting in lots of time and effort to develop a framework for a modified curriculum that includes:
- Revising the foundational sciences curriculum to be a one-pass, organ-based, three-semester system that will incorporate more active and experiential educational methods
- Introducing a longitudinal clinical preceptorship in the first three semesters
- Expansion of the health systems science content throughout the curriculum and adding a robust community engagement experience
- Addition of an accelerated 3-year MD pathway

Curriculum Renewal | College of Medicine Dean's Office | SUNY Upstate Medical University The proposed three-year pathway (3YP) will use the same curriculum structure, instructional formats, and assessments methods as the traditional four-year pathway, except for the following:
