The Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board (CNY RPDB) is working with New York State’s ConnectALL Office to understand the full scope of broadband and digital equity resources that exist in Central New York. Local leaders across Central New York have been working to expand access to broadband internet to as many people as possible. As Mr. Wright explains in his letter, this must include our neighbors in rural communities across the region.

The Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board's broadband study has identified thousands of our neighbors who lack physical access to infrastructure, as well as many more who experience other barriers to adoption. The region continues to work to close these gaps.

FOCUS Greater Syracuse is hosting a discussion on the digital divide in Central New York, tomorrow at 12:05pm. CNY RPDB's Executive Director David Bottar will be participating along with representatives from Onondaga County, the City of Syracuse, and the CNY Digital Inclusion Coalition. Read more here:

FOCUS Greater Syracuse to host virtual forum on ‘Bridging the Digital Divide in CNY’ FOCUS Greater Syracuse will host a free, virtual forum that will highlight the digital divide in CNY, and the initiatives Onondaga County and the City of Syracuse are taking to bridge this divide.

On the front page of the Palladium Times this past weekend, local leaders continue to urge residents and businesses to take the CNY Broadband Internet Survey highlighting the importance of making decisions with the most accurate data possible.

A few weeks ago the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) released an interactive map showcasing gaps in broadband access across the country. The CNY RPDB's Executive Director, David Bottar, has responded to this release, emphasizing how our survey and study will help improve upon this data and lay the ground work for expanding access across the region.
