Don’t leave rural New York behind in push for broadband (Guest Opinion by James W. Wright) 11/22/2021

Local leaders across Central New York have been working to expand access to broadband internet to as many people as possible. As Mr. Wright explains in his letter, this must include our neighbors in rural communities across the region.

The Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board's broadband study has identified thousands of our neighbors who lack physical access to infrastructure, as well as many more who experience other barriers to adoption. The region continues to work to close these gaps.

We want to thank the local media for publishing our response to the NTIA maps and drawing attention to this vital issue. By filling out the CNY Broadband Internet Survey, you are helping us build a more accurate picture of the gaps in access in our community, which will help us address these issues head on.

Bottar: CNY broadband survey is critical to future improvements 07/08/2021

A few weeks ago the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) released an interactive map showcasing gaps in broadband access across the country. The CNY RPDB's Executive Director, David Bottar, has responded to this release, emphasizing how our survey and study will help improve upon this data and lay the ground work for expanding access across the region.
