Long Island’s students are increasingly diverse, and educators need the tools to ensure every student and family feels understood, welcomed, and supported.
A Hofstra University Center for Suburban Studies study found that students of color represented nearly 45% of Long Island’s public-school enrollment, while only 8% of teachers were people of color. On October 19, AAIRE will lead a professional development training at Nassau BOCES, equipping educators with practical strategies to support immigrant students and families navigating language barriers and immigration-related fears. Participating educators will receive CTLE credit.
