We love hearing from our Landmark Foundation Scholarship recipients. Check out what Brian Moe has to say about his recent experience at Landmark Learning.

"I recently completed a NOLS WFR Recertification course at Landmark Learning. The WFR Recert was packed full of information – basically a condensed run-through of the topics and skills we initially learned as WFR’s. Students also had ample opportunities to run through scenarios practicing the patient assessment system and appropriate treatments. I found this to be a balanced blend of classroom time and hands-on time outdoors.

Reflecting on the experience, I am happy that I again chose Landmark Learning for NOLS trainings. Two reasons come to mind. First, the instructors are knowledgeable and are clearly passionate about the material and the way they present it. Second, Landmark Learning offers an excellent facility for wilderness scenarios. There is ample practice space among the classrooms, outdoor fields and trails. This helps create realistic settings for WFR. Overall, this was a great brush-up of knowledge and skills that will continue to benefit my work as a park ranger."

Thanks Brian!

The Hill, as it’s lovingly known, is a short but steep stretch of path between the Upstream Classroom and the camping and bunkhouse area.

If you aren’t aware of it, The Hill can catch you off guard. But with a little planning, it becomes just another part of the experience—and one you might even come to appreciate.

Staying at the Upstream Campus for a course? Think backpack, not rolling suitcase. Only foot traffic is allowed on The Hill, so pack accordingly!

Day one might feel like a challenge, but by the end of the week, you’ll be stronger, more confident, and better prepared for your journey as a Wilderness First Responder.

Stayed with us before? What do you think of The Hill?
