Dear Wonderful Wonderworks Families and Community Supporters,
I want to let you know that we have made the very hard decision to close our doors for the last time on Saturday December 16th after our 2 PM recital at Skyland Nursing Home.
Wonderworks began as a small dream of mine in June of 2012. Having grown up in a small city with many musical and artistic opportunities for kids, I was downtrodden about the lack of experiences for kids in our area. I started Wonderworks with just 4 kids, 2 of which stayed. Within 1 year, we grew to 35 students and 4 teachers. Since then, Wonderworks grew to something I never could have imagined. From art classes to summer camps, rock band classes to birthday parties, my 22 year old self could never have seen all that was in store in the years to come.
Neither could my 22 year old self see having to live through a pandemic and the after math as a business owner. Like many small businesses, COVID did a number on us and I feel like our business has been playing catch up ever since. If you pray, please pray for your small business.
I am forever grateful to the students who became a part of our family, the teachers, counselors, and staff members who laughed and cried with me along the way, and the community who provided us so many opportunities and supported us. While choosing the pictures for this post, I cried truly bittersweet tears from all the happy memories and need to say goodbye. What an honor it has been to watch so many kids in our area grow up.
Many of our teachers are going to continue to teach on their own and we are happy to provide information to contact them if you are interested in lessons.
