Miss Swartzwelder is enjoying her Schools in Parks workshop at Carolina Beach State Park! She can’t wait to share everything she’s learned with the third graders.

Some highlights were getting to build a shelter to protect a turtle (and Miss Swartzwelder LOVES turtles, as you probably know), holding a snake for the first time, and seeing Venus flytraps in their native environment.

Thank you to the North Carolina State Parks System for this amazing opportunity!

WHAT IF COURAGE WAS SOMETHING WE COULD PASS ON?

Sometimes all it takes is one person making a brave choice to inspire someone else to do the same. In 5th and 6th grade guidance, Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Norman are continuing to explore what courage looks like in everyday moments—and how our choices can make a difference for others.

For our third student-created Courage video, we're passing the phone and passing along a message worth sharing:

You can be nervous and still be brave. You can be quiet and still stand up for someone. And you can make a difference without ever being the loudest person in the room.
Because courage isn't always about making a big stand. Sometimes it's simply choosing to be the person someone else needs.
