The Department Range Master

Meet “Bud,” the department range master. Bud is a wealth of information and a veteran of the police department. A fi****ms expert and department trainer, he responds to everything you say to him with, “Huh?” due to his 25+ years as a Range Master and hearing loss. The odor of gun lubricant excites him greatly!

He is up to date with all the new fi****ms training techniques and scenarios. He can’t wait for this year’s in-service training so he can introduce this year’s training block, which will start off with students running a 100 yard dash with a shotgun, while being chased by a police K9, doing 25 pushups and 25 burpees while being saturated by a firehose before firing 25 rounds at the 50 yard line, doing 3 somersaults, landing at the 25 yard line where you will shoot weak handed and blindfolded “two to the body and one to the head.”

He is a strong advocate of carrying no less than 5 fi****ms on your person while on duty and at least 3 while off duty.

We salute you, mister “it’s not a clip, it’s a magazine” police range master! 🍻

Despite the recent storms littering the range, we were able to get out and get some practice in. It is always a good day when you beat your buddy in a game of Battleship!
