This past week, our friends were introduced to Daniel from the Bible. You know the one, he’s that guy who was thrown into a den of lions and survived! Our friends also learned this week that we can make wise choices, just like Daniel, who made the choice to stay true to his God.

🚨 It’s Meet the Staff Monday! 🚨

Today’s featured teacher is Mrs Colleen Wolfe
(GRAY 4C)

We love her so much and so do our EYLC students. She’s the most loving, loyal, friendly, and kind teacher! She’s always ready with a smile on her face and a cheerful attitude!

She is a mom of four boys—ages 12, 10, and 7-year-old twins—and all four of her boys attended the EYLC program. When her twins graduated, she quickly realized that she loved EYLC just as much as they did, and she wasn’t quite ready to leave! She decided to stay and continue doing what she loves—working with young children and being part of such a special community.

Colleen has a BA in Psychology with a certification in Early Childhood Education from UMBC, as well as an MS in Elementary Education with a concentration in Teaching Literacy and Language from Kaplan University. Before taking some time away from the classroom to be home with her boys, she taught first grade in Howard County Public Schools.

Outside of school, Colleen enjoys spending time with her family (usually somewhere on a sports field!), traveling, and getting lost in a good book. She is looking forward to another wonderful year at EYLC and can’t wait to see what this year brings!

🚨 It’s Meet the Staff Monday! 🚨

For all our new friends, we love to showcase one of our amazing teachers each Monday throughout the year! It’s an opportunity to learn a little more about who they are and what they love—besides your children! ❤️

We are starting the year off with Ms. Heather Zywiec (The lead teacher in LIME GREEN 2D & 2E)

She is currently going into her sixth year of teaching at EYLC and her 16th year of teaching! She started her time at EYLC six years ago after moving to Maryland from Pittsburgh, where she received her master’s degree in education and special education. Heather has worked around children her entire life, as her mom had an in-home daycare while she was growing up. She has known from a very young age that she has a passion for working with children.

Heather is the mommy to an adorable little fur baby named “Gucci” and the aunt to some amazing nieces and nephews! She loves spending time outside, seeing friends, reading, and baking. Heather is looking forward to working with all her new students this year and seeing her former students in the hallway! We love her gentle and kind spirit and her love for her students!

🚨 It’s Meet the Staff Monday! 🚨

Today we are featuring Mrs. Miriam Rao! We can’t let her leave us without giving her a major shoutout! While we are so sad to say goodbye, we are also so excited for her as she begins her motherhood journey. She’s due this month, so she’s not returning because she’s expecting the baby soon! She has been one of our extended day teachers in the Red Room (3D). She started four years ago, and our EYLC friends have loved her ever since. She’s been married for over a year and graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She serves as one of the leaders for her church’s youth group in worship and discipleship, which is one of her favorite places to be. She has three younger brothers and is the oldest cousin of 15–and she’s very close to all of them! This is where her love for children all started. Outside of work, she loves to sing, hike, paddle board, and hang out with close friends and family. Please help us wish her well and pray for her new family of three!

🚨 It’s Meet the Staff Monday! 🚨

Today we are celebrating our very own Karen Rauch!

Karen has been one of our very best teachers, dedicated to the 4 year olds in the Yellow Room (4A). This past school year was her 5th year at EYLC! She and her husband Todd have lived in Eldersburg for over 25 years. Their daughter Hailee (21) attended EYLC and attended Shippensburg University where she graduated last December. Karen attends Wesley Freedom UMC and taught preschool Sunday Schoool for 12 years, and was involved with VBS for 18 years. She worked at Piney Ridge Elementary School for four and a half years, and for two of those years, she worked one-on-one in the Special Education Department.

We always love seeing her smile, and her students are growing and learning under one of the sweetest teachers they will ever have!

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing EYLC staff, families and friends for your support and votes. We are grateful to be part of such an amazing community.

As we celebrate this exciting recognition, we’re also looking ahead to another wonderful school year! Enrollment is OPEN, and spaces are filling quickly. We currently have limited openings available in our Preschool and Extended Day Preschool programs (6:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m.).
