Meet Our Student Board Members! We are proud to announce the appointment of our inaugural Student Board Members, creating a new opportunity to elevate student voice and bring student perspectives directly into District governance.

At the September 28, 2026, meeting, the Sycamore Community School District 427 Board of Education approved Harper Lundeen as Senior Student Board Member and Blake Bright as Junior Student Board Member. Jared Lanting will serve as Senior Alternate, and Taylor Tilstra will serve as Junior Alternate. Read more here: https://syc427.co/StudentBoard

Last night, we officially kicked off our district's Strategic Planning process with our first community planning session! We brought together staff, families, Board of Education members, and most importantly, our students, to share their voices, ideas, and perspectives on the future of Sycamore Community School District 427.

Throughout the evening, participants engaged in meaningful conversations about revising our district's vision and reimagining what teaching and learning should look like for future generations of Spartans. These discussions are an important first step in establishing a shared direction that reflects the hopes and aspirations of our entire school community.

This is just the beginning! We are excited to share our progress as we move through the strategic planning process and provide opportunities for all stakeholders to engage, contribute, and help shape the future of Sycamore 427. 🖤💛

Tickets are on sale NOW for our fall musical, The Little Mermaid, at sycamoretickets.org. Don’t miss out on this classic tale!

Performances will be on Friday, November 13, and Saturday, November 14, at 2:00 and 7:00 PM, and on Sunday, November 15, at 2:00 PM. Tickets are $17 for Adults, $15 for students, $15 for seniors, and $11 for children. They can be purchased through the Sycamore Ticket Office at sycamoretickets.org starting on Tuesday, October 13, at 10:00 AM. You can also purchase in person through the box office. Box office hours will begin on Wednesday, October 14, from 3:00-6:00 PM and continue each Wednesday until the show. The box office is located inside the main entrance at Sycamore High School.

On Tuesday, October 13, 2026, there is a Board of Education Business Services Committee Meeting at 6:00 PM. These meetings will be held at Sycamore Middle School, 150 Maplewood Drive, in Sycamore. The public is welcome to attend in person.

It's another month of Spartans Read Together! For the month of October, we are featuring the Portrait of a Spartan disposition: Effective Communicators. Please take a few minutes to watch this video featuring Meg Thurman, Director of Student Services at Sycamore Community School District 427. She reads to us "Listen: How Evelyn Glennie, a Deaf Girl, Changed Percussion" by Shannon Stocker and Devon Holzwarth.

Sycamore 427 is planning for the future - and we want our community to be part of the conversation!
This school year, our district is launching a comprehensive strategic planning process. As part of this work, we’re inviting students, staff, families, and community members to attend our Facility Strategic Planning Meetings:
• West Elementary - Monday, November 2 (rescheduled from Tuesday, November 3)
• North Grove Elementary - Thursday, November 5
• South Prairie Elementary/Little Spartans - Wednesday, November 11
• Sycamore High School - Thursday, November 12
• Sycamore Middle School - Monday, November 16
• North Elementary - Monday, November 30
• Southeast Elementary - Thursday, December 3
All meetings are 5:30-7:00 PM. These sessions are open to the public, and community members may attend any Facility Strategic Planning meeting, regardless of which school they or their children attend.
Your input will help shape the long-term direction of our schools and the future of Sycamore 427.

HOMECOMING UPDATE: Due to today’s weather, the Powder Puff game scheduled for tonight has been postponed and rescheduled for Sunday, October 4 at 4:00 PM.

The rest of tonight’s Homecoming festivities are still scheduled to continue! We will continue to monitor the weather, and if anything changes, we will communicate with families and the community no later than 4:30 PM.

The Homecoming Parade will step off through downtown Sycamore at 6:00 PM as planned.

Following the parade, join us at 7:15 PM at the Sycamore High School Main Gym as we:
- Introduce Homecoming Candidates representing 45 participating clubs and teams
- Announce the Top 3 Paint the Town windows
- Recognize the Top 3 decorated golf carts
- Announce the 2026 Homecoming Court

We know weather-related changes are never ideal, and we appreciate everyone’s flexibility and understanding as we work to give our students the best Homecoming experience possible.
