IU Health Bloomington's Trauma team members Ashley Hill and Amber's Drescher taught and certified students in Stop the Bleed techniques this week. The main skills are applying pressure, applying CAT tourniquets, and packing bleeding wounds.
After training, students competed against each other to determine who is fastest in each class at applying CAT tourniquets . Maggie and Alea were winners and each received a fully stocked ' Stop the Bleed' kit from IU Health Bloomington!

Sunny skies and propeller wind escorted Air Evac Life Team into Linton for the morning class to have their turn at this demonstration on the helipad at GCGH.

The crew showed equipment used to provide critical care in a helicopter, along with discussing their careers, requirements to be considered for joining the crew, various certifications and opportunities for growth in these careers. For those who may not follow a more traditional path in Healthcare, students learned about the experiences which brought the pilot onto Air Evac Life Team.

Our morning students experienced their first "patient"- type experiences by doing vision screenings with Lions Club members at LS and WRV schools this week. Thanks to the Lions Club and the school nurses for including students in this eye health activity.
