🎉Celebration of our Achievement🎉
The FIU ITE Student Chapter, in collaboration with the FIU WTS Student Chapter, hosted an unforgettable End-of-Year Party, and it was the perfect way to celebrate everything we’ve accomplished this year🚦.

The event brought together students, faculty, and professionals for an afternoon filled with delicious food, fun activities, and powerful networking opportunities. We were honored to welcome special guests from ITE South Florida and WTS South Florida, whose presence made the celebration even more special.

This gathering also marked a moment of reflection as we proudly recognized the achievements of our chapter and bid farewell to our amazing 2024–2025 Executive Board:

The FIU Transportation System Operations Symposium was a tremendous success🚦!
Held on April 9–10, 2025, the symposium brought together thought leaders from the public sector, private industry, and academia to explore the latest innovations in Transportation System Management and Operations (TSM&O) in Florida, including strategies ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026⚽!

We’re honored that our student chapter not only volunteered but also played a key role on the planning committee for this impactful event. It was an unforgettable opportunity to help shape the future of transportation in our state.

We are honored to welcome Mr. Satya M. Kolluru PE, PTOE, PTP, RSP1, IMSA II, Traffic Operations Department Manager at Osiris 9 Consulting, LLC. He will share his invaluable expertise on innovative intersections in North Florida.

Bio:
Mr. Satya Kolluru has over 20 years of experience in transportation engineering, planning, Project Development and Environment (PD&E), and traffic design projects with emphasis on traffic operations and safety, geometric design, environmental impact analysis, signal design, lighting, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) design. His expertise includes Traffic Operational and Safety evaluations, Roadway Evaluations, Intersection Control Evaluation (ICE), Interstate Master Plans, PD&E projects, Project Traffic Analysis Reports, Safety Evaluation Reports, Interstate Access Requests, Preliminary Planning, Corridor Analysis and Roadway Geometric Design. He is also the Engineer-of-Record for several signalization, lighting, and ITS component sets for roadway projects and have extensive experience in completing them. He completed his Bachelors in Civil Engineering from Andhra University in India and his Master of Sciences in Transportation Engineering from the University of Cincinnati.
Mr. Kolluru was the Project Manager for over 100 FDOT projects ranging from $25,000 Task Work Orders to 5-Year, $5 Million Continuing Services Contracts. His most recent project was the completion of the Systems Interchange Modifications Report (SIMR) for the largest project currently under construction in the State of Florida, The Tampa Westshore Interchange, a $1.2 Billion project, which he obtained approval from FHWA in a record 6 months with zero comments.

Bio:
Saurabh Basnet, PE, RSP1 is a Professional Engineer (PE) and a Roadway Safety Professional (RSP1) with over five years of practical and research experience in urban transportation planning, traffic operations, and safety. Mr. Saurabh has supported traffic engineering and transportation planning tasks for various public agencies in South Florida including Florida Department of Transportation (DOT) District 4 and 6, City of Westlake, Town of Lauderdale-by-the-sea, City of Miami, Palm Beach TPA, Broward MPO, Broward County Transit and various private developments in South Florida. He has expertise in performing traffic impact studies, lane repurposing traffic analysis, comprehensive plan amendments, corridor feasibility analysis, growth management, and safety analysis. He is a graduate from Clemson University where he was actively involved in the student chapter. He served as a Scholarship Committee Chair for the South Florida Section of ITE where he further enhanced the book scholarship program by introducing new competitions such as PSA Video Challenge and the Innovative Solutions Flyer Challenge. Currently, Mr. Saurabh serves as a Treasurer for South Florida Section of ITE. Recently, he was awarded as the 2024 Rising Star by the South Florida Section of ITE.

On February 12, 2025, our student chapter had an amazing opportunity to explore the behind-the-scenes construction at the Miami International Airport (MIA) site.

This tour was not only a chance to see the innovative projects being developed but also a significant learning experience for us as aspiring engineers. It gave us invaluable insight into the future of transportation infrastructure and the engineering challenges that come with such large-scale projects.

A huge thank you to ASCE FIU for organizing this impactful tour and to Lemartec for making it possible. We are excited to continue applying what we’ve learned to our studies and future careers as engineers!

Bio:
Dr. Syed Ahnaf Morshed, Ph.D. is a goal-getter both on and off the field! With a Ph.D. in Transportation Systems Management and Operations from Florida International University and an MSc. in Transportation Materials from the University of Louisiana, he has authored over a dozen research papers and is always on the hunt for the next big innovation. Dr. Morshed is currently working as the Program Manager of Transportation Systems Operations at AASHTO. Before joining AASHTO he worked as a TSMO Associate at the Institute of Transportation Engineering. Driven by a passion for research, he has developed resources like the Equity in Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure website and is actively contributing to the FIFA 2026 World Cup National Coordination Committee. Off the clock, you will find him exploring scenic trails, cooking delicious Bangladeshi (where he is originally from) dishes, or lacing up his cleats as a proud member of Knights FC, a small but spirited local soccer league team. A die-hard Manchester United fan and lifelong soccer enthusiast, he brings the same energy and determination to every challenge he tackles!

We are thrilled to share that our members had the incredible opportunity to present their research at the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Annual Meeting 2025 in Washington, D.C., from January 5-8. It was truly an honor to contribute to this prestigious event and showcase innovative ideas in transportation research and solutions.

We were also privileged to attend the ITE Student Reception on Monday, January 6, at the ITE Headquarters. Connecting with talented engineers, fellow students, and professionals was an inspiring experience that reinforced our passion for shaping the future of transportation.

Our student chapter was honored to participate in this milestone event, where we showcased our activities, achievements, and commitment to advancing the transportation field. It was a proud moment to highlight the impactful work our members have done and the difference we are making in the engineering community.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the department, especially Dr. Anil Misra, Department Chair, and our incredible advisor, Dr. Priyanka Alluri, for coordinating this event and supporting our chapter every step of the way. Your leadership and encouragement empower us to reach new heights.

On November 22, 2024, we came together for an incredible Thanksgiving celebration hosted collaboratively by the FIU ITE Student Chapter, FIU WTS Student Chapter, FIU FES, FIU Chi Epsilon, and FIU American Association of Colombian Engineers (AACE) Student Chapter!
The event was filled with joy as we enjoyed a delicious lunch, connected with fellow students and professionals, and had fun with engaging games. It was a wonderful opportunity to embrace the season of gratitude, build meaningful connections, and strengthen the sense of community that makes FIU so special.
A big THANK YOU to everyone who made this event possible and to those who joined us to make it a memorable day! 🌟
