Matthew Wells, a junior in the School of Communication, was deployed to Iraq from December 2021 to December 2022. Since returning to Virginia Tech, he’s continued to model the 'Ut Prosim' spirit.

Many of you know that the Amherst Lancers Tech Club started several projects over the years. On project was entitle “Music Academy Group”. As the description shows, the student use digital media music creation software to create their own style and stories. Today, August 19, 2022, one our our former student publish his first album to YouTube!! Mark Thurston, we are glad to celebrate with you this major milestone!! As Amherst Lancers Tech Club advisor, I’m so proud of the current and veteran members of the ALTC as we, for the second year in a row, streamed live TWO high school graduations on the same day, almost the same time and about sixty miles apart!

Today seniors graduated from Amherst County High School at Liberty University Vines Center at 7 pm and Nelson County High School at Nelson Middle School gym at 7:30 pm. Both schools faced tornado warnings in the AM and right before their perspective ceremonies where about to take place! A big shout out to all the ALTC members who participated in either event and captured these special events for future generations!

Our team of 15 current/former students with 5 adults wish to congratulate all seniors at ACHS and NCHS on this major milestone in your life! We wish you all the best!

The Amherst Lancer Tech Club’s Alpha and Beta teams recently represented Virginia in the International Real World Design Challenge (RWDC) and received an honorable mention, according to Amherst County Public

We are excited to share some news! This winter, the ALTC Alpha and Beta teams competed in the Real World Design Challenge 2021/2022. This is the third year our ALTC STEM teams have participated. This year, the Alpha team won the state challenge and were awarded the 2021/2022 Real World Design Challenge State Championship Governor’s Award! Our Beta team whose members were first time challenge team members won second place!!

Today, our Alpha Team represented Virginia in the National/International RWDC competition that took place virtually through Microsoft Teams. Our students had 15 minutes to present their design project and 10 minutes of Q&A from various competition judges throughout the nation and world. This year’s competition hosted 40 championships teams from India, Philippines, Canada, China and America.

Our 7 member team was evaluated on executive summary, team engagement, system design, missions, business case, amortization, pricing, justification of price and cost/benefit analysis, and their conclusion. They have worked for 6 months, weekly, and sometimes twice a week to be able to submit their response to the RWDC committee.

We are so proud of all their hard work and dedication to develop this STEM project and to be able to compete on the national level!! Congratulations to both teams!

Results will be announced tomorrow afternoon! (4/24/2022)

The Amherst Lancers Tech Club is preparing to LIVE Stream the Town of Amherst Reverse Christmas Parade this Friday, December 3rd. Shout out to Mr Prior’s Building Trades CTE class who has stepped up and built the framework of the Mobile Studio! Thank you Roy and students!! You all rock!!

We are so excited to back in action with our Amherst Lancers Tech Club LIVE streaming crew! Tonight we brought an exciting ACHS vs LHS (Bedford) varsity game to the Amherst Lancers Spots Network YouTube channel and the Amherst Lancers page! This in innovation learning in real-world situations. It’s also a lot of fun!! 🤩 Final Score: ACHS - 34 LHS - 0! Go Lancers!!
