❤️🤍 Welcome, New Dragons! 🐉

Our newest Swartz Creek educators spent the day getting ready for a great start to the school year!

New Teacher Orientation gave our new staff members the opportunity to connect with one another while meeting with several departments across the district, including Technology, Human Resources, Curriculum and more. They learned about district resources, procedures, expectations and all of the behind the scenes support available to help them be successful.

We’re excited to have these talented educators joining the Swartz Creek family and can’t wait for our students and families to meet them!

🔧💻🚌 A BIG THANK YOU to some of the people working behind the scenes all summer to get Swartz Creek Community Schools ready for a new year!

While our bond construction projects have been very visible, there has been another whole crew of people working in and around those projects to make sure our buildings, technology and buses are ready for students and staff.

Our Maintenance Department has been tackling everything from repairs, painting and grounds work to moving furniture, cleaning up after projects, responding to building needs and coordinating their work around construction crews and changing timelines.

Our Technology Department has been busy preparing devices, updating and installing equipment, setting up classrooms, troubleshooting systems, managing networks and making sure technology is ready to go, often waiting for construction work to be completed before they can get into spaces to finish their own work.

And our Transportation Mechanics have spent the summer inspecting, servicing and repairing buses and getting our fleet ready to safely hit the roads when our Dragons return.

A huge thank you to:

🔧 Maintenance: Bill, Dan, Gene, Mike, Brad and Zach

💻 Technology: Travis, Maxwell, Sam and Myke

🚌 Mechanics: Rich, Randy and Bret

These are some pretty humble people who would much rather be doing the work than posing for a picture. 😂 In fact, convincing them to stop long enough for a photo may have been one of the tougher jobs of the summer, so this is what we got!

Thank you for the countless things you do that most people never see. Your work matters, and we appreciate you! ❤️🤍🐉

Today, our entire Food Service Department is together for back-to-school training!

There is a whole lot more that goes into feeding our students each day than most of us ever see. Our dedicated team completes extensive training on safety procedures, proper meal compliance, vegetable subgroups, food allergies, and so much more.

It takes knowledge, planning, attention to detail, and a team that truly cares about the students they serve. ❤️

And while we’re talking Food Service, here’s an important reminder for our families!

Please take less than 5 minutes to complete the 2026-2027 Educational Benefits Application through our Family Portal. Even though this application is not used to determine eligibility for free or reduced-price school meals, every completed application helps Swartz Creek Community Schools receive important state and federal funding, including Title I and At-Risk funding, that supports programs, services, and educational opportunities for our students.

🎯 Our goal is 100% family participation!

Thank you to our Food Service Team for everything you’re doing to prepare for another great year of feeding and caring for our Dragons! 🐉❤️🤍

Dear Swartz Creek Families and Community,

It is hard to believe that we are less than one week away from welcoming our Dragons back to school! On Monday, August 31, our hallways and classrooms will once again be filled with students, and we could not be more excited to begin the 2026-2027 school year.

While summer may seem like a quieter time in a school district, there has been an incredible amount of work happening throughout Swartz Creek Community Schools over the past several months.

Thanks to the continued support of our community from our 2024 bond, our buildings have been busy with improvements across the district. At Dieck Elementary, significant work has taken place on the parking lot, bus loop and playground pavement. At the High School, projects have included lighting improvements in the Performing Arts Center and classrooms, bathroom renovations, work in the media center, new lift basketball hoops and improvements to the gym and lobby flooring. Roof repairs have taken place at both the High School and Middle School, while Middle School improvements have included work in the band and choir rooms, courtyard windows, media center, classroom lighting and flooring, and restrooms.

These projects represent a tremendous investment in the places where our students learn, grow, perform and connect each day, and we are grateful to our community for making them possible.

But preparing for a new school year is about much more than buildings.

Throughout the summer, our administrators, teachers and support staff have been learning and preparing as well. Staff members have participated in professional development focused on curriculum, instruction, student support, social-emotional learning and positive school environments. Our elementary teachers have been preparing for the implementation of our new Bridges mathematics curriculum and Number Corner resources, and teams throughout the district have spent time collaborating, planning and preparing to best serve students from the moment they walk through our doors.

We are incredibly thankful for the educators who have given part of their summer to this important work.

We are also excited to welcome many new faces to the Dragon family this year. New teachers, support staff and administrators will be joining experienced staff members across our district, bringing new ideas, talents and energy to our schools. We look forward to introducing them to our students, families and community and watching the impact they will make.

Behind the scenes, our custodial and maintenance teams, technology staff, transportation department, food service staff, secretaries, administrators and countless others have also been working throughout the summer to prepare for August 31. Opening the doors for a new school year truly takes an entire team, and I am grateful for every person who has played a part.

Most importantly, we are ready for our students.

A new school year brings new opportunities, new relationships, new challenges and new memories. Whether a student is walking into one of our buildings for the very first time or preparing for their final year as a Dragon, our goal remains the same: to provide a safe, welcoming environment where every student is supported, challenged and encouraged to succeed.

Thank you to our families for entrusting us with your children, to our staff for the work you do each day, and to the entire Swartz Creek community for the continued support you show our schools.

Enjoy this final week of summer. We cannot wait to see our Dragons on Monday, August 31 and begin another great year together.

Welcome back, Dragons!

We’re getting closer to the finish line on our summer projects, and the transformation is exciting to see!

The new High School and Middle School media centers are nearly complete, with crews working on final touches this week. New furniture, flooring, lighting and collaborative spaces have given both areas a completely new look.

At Dieck Elementary, work on the new parking lot and additional overflow parking in the back is also nearly complete. The playground is next, with wood chips scheduled to be spread this Friday.

There has been a tremendous amount of work happening throughout the district this summer, and we’re grateful to everyone who has worked hard to keep these projects moving forward.

Take a look at the progress! ❤️🤍🐉
