Dear Swartz Creek Families and Community,
It is hard to believe that we are less than one week away from welcoming our Dragons back to school! On Monday, August 31, our hallways and classrooms will once again be filled with students, and we could not be more excited to begin the 2026-2027 school year.
While summer may seem like a quieter time in a school district, there has been an incredible amount of work happening throughout Swartz Creek Community Schools over the past several months.
Thanks to the continued support of our community from our 2024 bond, our buildings have been busy with improvements across the district. At Dieck Elementary, significant work has taken place on the parking lot, bus loop and playground pavement. At the High School, projects have included lighting improvements in the Performing Arts Center and classrooms, bathroom renovations, work in the media center, new lift basketball hoops and improvements to the gym and lobby flooring. Roof repairs have taken place at both the High School and Middle School, while Middle School improvements have included work in the band and choir rooms, courtyard windows, media center, classroom lighting and flooring, and restrooms.
These projects represent a tremendous investment in the places where our students learn, grow, perform and connect each day, and we are grateful to our community for making them possible.
But preparing for a new school year is about much more than buildings.
Throughout the summer, our administrators, teachers and support staff have been learning and preparing as well. Staff members have participated in professional development focused on curriculum, instruction, student support, social-emotional learning and positive school environments. Our elementary teachers have been preparing for the implementation of our new Bridges mathematics curriculum and Number Corner resources, and teams throughout the district have spent time collaborating, planning and preparing to best serve students from the moment they walk through our doors.
We are incredibly thankful for the educators who have given part of their summer to this important work.
We are also excited to welcome many new faces to the Dragon family this year. New teachers, support staff and administrators will be joining experienced staff members across our district, bringing new ideas, talents and energy to our schools. We look forward to introducing them to our students, families and community and watching the impact they will make.
Behind the scenes, our custodial and maintenance teams, technology staff, transportation department, food service staff, secretaries, administrators and countless others have also been working throughout the summer to prepare for August 31. Opening the doors for a new school year truly takes an entire team, and I am grateful for every person who has played a part.
Most importantly, we are ready for our students.
A new school year brings new opportunities, new relationships, new challenges and new memories. Whether a student is walking into one of our buildings for the very first time or preparing for their final year as a Dragon, our goal remains the same: to provide a safe, welcoming environment where every student is supported, challenged and encouraged to succeed.
Thank you to our families for entrusting us with your children, to our staff for the work you do each day, and to the entire Swartz Creek community for the continued support you show our schools.
Enjoy this final week of summer. We cannot wait to see our Dragons on Monday, August 31 and begin another great year together.
Welcome back, Dragons!
