CHOOSING A LESS TRAVELED PATH: WOMAN IN AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE

Women currently represent only about 2.6% of Aircraft Maintenance Technicians, making them significantly underrepresented in a career field that offers a wide range of opportunities within the aviation industry. At FAI, we’re proud to see women discovering the opportunities available in aircraft maintenance and working toward a career in an industry where their skills and talents are needed.

Aircraft Maintenance Technicians play an essential role in aviation safety. They inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair aircraft and their systems, and an A&P certificate can lead to opportunities throughout commercial aviation, corporate aviation, manufacturing, repair facilities, general aviation, and other areas of the aerospace industry.

For these women, aircraft maintenance isn’t an unconventional choice...it’s their chosen profession in an equal-opportunity career field.
