CALLING COMMUNITY MEMBERS, BUSINESS OWNERS & ROLE MODELS! 🌟

As the school year gets ready to begin, our CATALYST Afterschool Program is looking for amazing community members, business owners, professionals, and role models who would be willing to give back to our eager teens.

Once a month, on a Thursday, we invite a guest to join us from approximately 3:30 - 4:30PM to:

✨ Share your personal and professional journey
✨ Inspire and motivate our students
✨ Talk about career paths and real-world experiences
✨ Give teens a perspective they may not normally get during the school day
✨ Answer questions and help them see what is possible for their future

We typically have 5–15 students who choose to attend each afternoon because they are eager to learn, grow, and better prepare themselves for the future. 💚

You don't need to be a motivational speaker or have a fancy presentation — just willing to share your story, your experiences, and what you've learned along the way!

Learning, growing, and gaining real world experience! 🌟

Today we’re highlighting one of our incredible interns spending time at Divine Treasures in downtown Swanton!

Divine Treasures is a family owned local business that offers a unique mix of Vermont made gifts, artisan products, consignment treasures, formalwear, and bridal attire all while providing outstanding customer service and supporting other local vendors. It’s a wonderful place for our interns to build customer service skills, gain retail experience, and see firsthand what it takes to run a successful small business.

A huge thank you to Divine Treasures for investing in the next generation and providing such a welcoming environment for our youth. We can’t wait to see all the confidence and skills our interns continue to develop this summer! 💙🌼

As part of the MVU Teen Opportunity program I have an intern that has been in the store daily. So far she has learned how to run the cash register, as well as keeping the shelves stocked. One day she learned how candles are made. She has observed how cold process soap is made, cured and wrapped. Tomorrow she will make some melt and pour soaps of her very own creations.

Meet one of our incredible interns at Rene J. Fournier Farm Equipment, where every day brings a new opportunity to learn, problem solve, and build valuable skills ✨

From servicing tractors to learning the ins and outs of agricultural equipment, he’s gaining experience that simply can’t be taught in a classroom. Every bolt turned and every repair completed is another step toward a successful future in the skilled trades!!

A huge shoutout to our Swanton Habitat for Humanity interns for spending time learning, serving, and making a difference in our community. Through hands on experiences, they’re gaining valuable skills, building confidence, and discovering the impact they can have through teamwork and service.

We’re so proud of these amazing young leaders and can’t wait to see where their journeys take them! 👏
