πβοΈ Itβs been a great couple of weeks for cross-country flights! Check out these photos from a recent night cross-country flight to Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Night flying is an important part of your training. To earn a Private Pilot Certificate, students must complete a night cross-country flight, along with at least 10 takeoffs and 10 full-stop landings at night.
Flying after dark introduces unique challenges, including visual and spatial illusions. For example, approaching a brightly lit runway surrounded by darkness can make you feel higher than you actually are, potentially leading to an approach that is too low.
However, with proper training and experience, pilots learn to recognize these illusions. You learn how to use proper instruments and procedures to ensure a safe nighttime approach! ππ©οΈ
