Her colleagues describe her as “someone who works miracles.” And while miracles may sound extraordinary, what she demonstrates every single day is the extraordinary power of an educator who believes deeply in every child. Congratulations to our 2026 Teacher of the year, Jolyn DeGeorge

Retirement is a significant milestone. While it marks the conclusion of a career, it does not mark the end of the impact these individuals have had. Their legacy lives on in the students they inspired, the colleagues they supported, and the communities they helped build.💙Congratulations,
we are forever grateful!

This Teacher Appreciation Week, we celebrate the incredible educators who make a difference in the lives of students every single day.

Teaching is more than a job—it’s a commitment to inspiring curiosity, building confidence, and opening doors to new opportunities. Teachers go above and beyond, often serving as mentors, role models, and steady sources of support for their students.

Your dedication, creativity, and care do not go unnoticed. You are shaping the future in ways that matter deeply, both inside and outside the classroom.

To all our educators: thank you for everything you do. Your impact is lasting, and your work is truly appreciated.

From SC: The town will be doing their FY 27 budget presentation on Monday. It was moved from this week to next so please attend in-person or online. Finance & School committees will be present to observe so everyone is on the same page.

Look forward to seeing town meeting members and the public in general that evening. Do note the agenda does have a public comment section so ask your questions before the presentation.

Your advocacy worked! Gov. Healey has asked the Group Insurance Commission to not increase co-pays and deductibles for the health care plans used by public employees. We are canceling our rallies planned for tomorrow in Springfield and Boston. We are moving ahead with a message to the GIC about maintaining coverage for GLP-1 medications used for weight management, which is set to end. There is more work to be done, but you earned a major victory today.

Let’s get this done now!

🚨 Action needed: Protect teachers’ retirement security 🚨

Please call and email your state senator today and urge them to pass H.4361 now.

This bill gives teachers a new opportunity to enroll in RetirementPlus, allowing them to retire a little earlier if they choose to contribute 11% to their pension. It’s a meaningful option that puts more control in educators’ hands.Take Action: https://massteacher.org/current-initiatives/legislative-action/retirementlegislation
