Students in Ms. Goodman's class used their knowledge of growth and fixed mindsets to work together to successfully complete a classroom escape room. Throughout the activity, students practiced important business and employability skills, including active listening, interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and collaboration. Teams had to communicate clearly, listen to one another’s ideas, and think critically to solve clues and overcome challenges. When they encountered difficult tasks, students were encouraged to demonstrate a growth mindset by trying new strategies, learning from mistakes, and continuing to work toward a solution. The escape room gave students an engaging opportunity to apply both mindset concepts and workplace skills in a team setting.
Students learned that having a growth mindset means viewing challenges and mistakes as opportunities to learn and improve rather than reasons to give up. They also learned that active listening, effective communication, collaboration, and problem-solving are essential skills for successfully working with others in school and future workplace situations.
