Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) invites parents and community members to apply for the district’s World Languages Instructional Resources Review Committee (IRRC), a group charged with evaluating digital instructional resources.

Feedback from the IRRC and teacher reviews will be considered in the selection of resources to pilot in the district. Instructional resources will be reviewed for courses in the areas of French, German, and Spanish. The deadline for submitting completed applications is Sunday, October 25.

This year’s World Languages IRRC will convene on Thursday, December 3, at the J. Alvin Wilbanks Instructional Support Center, located at 437 Old Peachtree Road, NW, in Suwanee.

Congratulations to Paul Duke STEM High School students Bryson Bjurmark, Oliver Ebert, Matthew Heinz, Camielle Moultrie, and Kyle Wright! These students won first place in STEM Mass Media during the Technology Student Association (TSA) National Competition.

The TSA is a national organization devoted exclusively to the needs of students interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). In the STEM Mass Media competition, participants must demonstrate a strong understanding of journalism etiquette and the common practices of the field of mass media.

The GCPS Listening and Learning Tour, led by Dr. Alexandra Estrella and her cabinet members, focuses on engaging directly with students, staff, families, and the community to better understand their experiences and needs.
Through roundtable discussions, school visits, and open conversations, the initiative aims to gather honest feedback about what works in schools and what needs improvement. By valuing student and community voices, the district hopes to shape strategic plans that reflect diverse perspectives, foster inclusion, and improve the educational experience for all. Participants expressed gratitude for being heard and emphasized the importance of collaborative decision-making in building a stronger school district.

The 2027 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program application window is now open through November 1. High school seniors may apply, provided they meet all program qualifications outlined by the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program.

Each year, the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program honors some of our nation’s most exceptional high school seniors who shine through academic achievement, artistic talent, and career and technical excellence. Established by executive order in 1964, the program has grown to recognize up to 161 students annually, celebrating those whose accomplishments reflect the highest ideals of scholarship, creativity, and leadership.
