Hey, science fans-
I recently had a fabulous conversation with a mom whose son is running a robotics team. She was searching for homeschool science programs or co-ops who could help her spread the word and she landed on our Lab Rats Cooperative Learning website. We spoke for close to 45 minutes and my impression was that she's a good and serious person.
I just wanted to pass along her information and afford everyone the opportunity to consider participating in robotics with their team.
Her follow-up email said:
The team meets in Buckhead, twice a week (one of the days could be optional due to sports etc or based on what tasks the team is doing that day, for example, programming can be done remotely). It is mainly for middle schoolers but we can have a few high schoolers. The challenge is called the First Tech Challenge. It teaches them other skills besides just robotics. Project management, presentation in front of an audience, financial planning and teamwork. It helped my son during our homeschooling years as it was a good way to meet a lot of different people and build soft skills.
