In my first few interviews after my career break, I was a mess.

I tried to have all the right answers. But the moment someone asked about my time away, I'd get nervous and start to over explain and over share. Like if I just gave them enough information they would understand and want to hire me.

Shockingly 😉, the more I explained, the more it sounded like I thought it was a problem.

It took a couple rounds of that before I was able to get my footing.

Where Back to Bold began -

A year ago I realized my life was about to look very different, very quickly.

I'd been a stay-at-home mom for 19 years. I have a master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, but honestly, clinical work was never where my heart was. So I chose to pour myself into my family instead.

Then life happened.

My son got into college out of state. And I told him, I would do everything I could to help him get there.

My life was changing in so many different ways, some of which were unexpected, I knew a career was something I needed.

So there I was. Nineteen years out of the workforce. A woman, 47 years old, with a degree I'd never really used. A resume that felt like it belonged to someone else. And a very real deadline.
