The Susanville Rotary Club was proud to welcome members of the Lassen High School women’s wrestling team to this week’s meeting.

These outstanding young women shared their experiences and spoke about their commitment and dedication to the sport. Wrestling requires hard work, discipline, and resilience—qualities that not only drive success on the mat, but also help prepare these student-athletes for bright futures.

🎉 We are thrilled to officially welcome Chris Montgomery as the newest member of the Rotary Club of Susanville! 🎉

Chris is the co-owner of Rocking M Media Group—the team behind local favorites JDX, KSUE, and Sierra Daily News. Beyond keeping our region informed and entertained, Chris plays a huge role in supporting and strengthening our local community.

Community giving in action! 🤝✨

High Desert State Prison Warden Kimberly Thornton recently presented a $2,000 check to the Susanville Rotary Club in support of the 2nd Annual Susanville Rotary Club Senior Citizen Luncheon.

Thanks to this generous donation and the dedicated hard work of the Susanville Rotary Club, over 100 local seniors came together on August 22nd to enjoy a wonderful afternoon of food, fellowship, and celebration.

We love seeing our local leadership and community organizations partner together to honor and serve our Susanville seniors! 💙 Prime example of neighbors supporting neighbors.

We are so proud to not only sponsor the initiation of this Rotaract Club, but have Angie Crowley, the incoming Susanville Rotary Club President for the 2027-2028 year, be the mentor and advisor, guiding our Rotaract members as they grow as community leaders. Congratulations!

The Susanville Rotary Club recently welcomed Rotarian and Lassen Community College Head Wrestling Coach Lonnie Nalls, who spoke about the college's outstanding wrestling program and its broader impact on student-athletes.
While LCC wrestlers compete successfully at regional, state, and national levels, Coach Nalls focused his presentation on character development. He emphasized that wrestling teaches lifelong lessons—including hard work, discipline, commitment, perseverance, and accountability—that serve athletes far beyond the mat.

“Coach Nalls understands that coaching is about much more than winning wrestling matches,” said Susanville Rotary Club President Bill Gillaspie. “He is helping students develop the work ethic, discipline, commitment and character that will carry them forward in college, careers, families and their communities. That is a tremendous contribution to Lassen County.”

The Susanville Rotary Club commends Coach Nalls for his dedication to building life skills and strengthening the community, and congratulates him, his staff, and LCC student-athletes for their commitment to excellence both on and off the mat.

Wednesday, August 12, 2026 Susanville Rotary club meeting, featuring Amy Holmen Larson, Land and Trails and Trust Executive Director along with Charlotte Roberts from the Susanville Area Bicycle Association. They presented an overview of the upcoming September 12, 2026 Lassen Gravel Ride on the Bizz Johnson Trail.

Susanville Rotary club provides assistance at the aid station Gomez headquarters during the event. President Bill Gillaspie stated our club is proud of the many years of support of this community event that attracts riders throughout the country counting for nearly 300 participants featuring beautiful Lassen County.

The Susanville Rotary Club proudly displays the Proclamations and plaques presented during its 100 year celebration dinner on May 6, 2026, now showcased at El Tepeyac Restaurant where the weekly meetings are held.

These recognitions commemorate a century of dedicated community service from 1926-2026.
The club was honored to receive proclamations and commemorations from Rotary International, Senator Dahle, Assembly Woman Hadwick, the Lassen County Board of Supervisors, and the Rotary District 5190, recognizing the Susanville Rotary Club's enduring commitment to improving the lives of others.
For 100 years, the Susanville Rotary Club has embraced the Rotary motto: Service Above Self, making a lasting difference throughout our community!
