Hello and welcome to our new team page! 2025 is an exciting year, as it is our 10th Anniversary as a trapshooting team! This is our 3rd year as a gun club, which means we have both "Junior" and "Senior" (Varsity) teams, 6th-12th grades. We are debuting a new look with new uniforms which were purchased with a generous donation from High Desert State Prison! We are so appreciative of the incredible support from our community to help ease the cost burden on our Claybreaker families. THANK YOU!🎉🔥

Here at the LCC Gunsmithing Program, we do everything we possibly can, to support the youth shooting sports. When the varsity captain of the Local youth Trap shooting team, The Lassen Claybreakers, was experiencing a number of misfires due to a broken firing pin, we did our best imitation of an Indy 500 pit crew, and made her a new firing pin for her Browning Citori. There are a lot of misconceptions in the gun world about firing pins. Many people falsely think that you need to make firing pins from the hardest steel possible. We teach here to make new firing pins from Mild steel, and then case harden them. This way you have a hard shell on the outside for impact resistance, but the softer inside has the wonderful properties that make that firing pin able to stand up to thousands and thousands of firings. Good luck, Lassen Clayreakers!

This Summer we will be offering something new. Join us for our two week Stockmaking series with the extremely talented James Tucker, who is a Professional Member of the American Custom Gunmakers Guild. The course will be divided into two separate, one week phases. Phase I will consist of learning how to layout and inlet, a semi-inlet stock blank, as well as covering proper inletting tools and their use. Phase II will cover the shaping and finishing of the stock. For most people, two weeks will not be enough time to completely finish your stock while you are here, but you will leave armed with the knowledge to continue on your own, and produce a finished product you can be proud of. Space is limited, and we encourage you to enroll as soon as possible. To enroll or answer any questions you may have, please email [email protected] or call us at (530) 251-8809.

Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, (Say that 3 times fast) more commonly known as T.I.G. Welding, is the most useful welding process for small, detailed work, which makes it perfect for gunsmithing. Cracks can be repaired, and worn surfaced can be built up, breathing new life into metal objects that most people would assume were destined for the scrap heap. We will start you out on some basic joints first, so even if you never plan on working on fi****ms, you will leave class armed with the knowledge of how to make basic repairs to many metal objects, or be a pro at horseshoe art, if that is your thing! The task of learning never ends, and we hope you decide to join us this summer to learn some new skills. For more information or to enroll, email JHerring@Lassen College.edu or call (530) 251-8809.

Come make some chips with us this summer! We are pretty proud of our machine shop, and would love for you to come make a mess in it. This class is tailored for those with zero machine tool experience, but even if you do have some experience we will keep you challenged. This class or some prior machining experience is a prerequisite for our barreling class. After taking this course and the barreling class, you will have all of the required skills to fit a modern barrel to a bolt action rifle. Shooting or hunting with a rifle you built is a rewarding experience that is hard to describe. Combine that with our stockmaking class, and handloading, and you will be an unstoppable force in the shooting arts. Email us at [email protected] We would love to have you at the oldest gunsmithing school in the U.S. !
