Next week, World Academy students will set sail with the HMS Bounty in our lesson, "From a Mutiny Comes a Culture".

The famous mutiny is only the beginning of this story. Students will investigate how British mutineers and Polynesian men and women came to live on remote Pitcairn Island and how a distinct culture grew through shared knowledge, survival, unequal power, conflict, and adaptation.

At STEAM Studios, we believe families should be able to learn about the same big ideas together, but in ways that are meaningful and developmentally appropriate for each child. Our students may explore the same story and questions while the reading, activities, and depth of analysis grow with them.

⚓ K–2 students will use pictures and sorting to discover what came from Britain, what came from Tahiti, and what became something new on Pitcairn.

🌿 Grades 3–5 will examine how British and Polynesian knowledge shaped the community’s homes, food, clothing, families, and language.

🔎 Grades 6–8 will investigate how cultural exchange and unequal power both influenced life on the island.

📜 Grades 9–12 will compare historical accounts and ask whose voices were preserved, whose were overlooked, and who deserves to be remembered as a founder.

This lesson is one example of how we learn together every day: one shared topic, thoughtfully adapted for every stage of learning.

We're looking for a warm, organized person to be the first voice families hear when they reach out to STEAM Studios. We run K–12 homeschool enrichment programs in Surprise and Goodyear, with Glendale opening soon, and we've grown to the point where our phones, inbox, and social media messages need someone dedicated to them.

THE ROLE
You'll be the first point of contact for prospective and current families. That means answering phones, replying to emails, responding to comments, messages, and tags on our social media pages, managing our CRM, and helping parents navigate enrollment and billing questions. This is a part-time role with room to grow.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Answer incoming phone calls and respond to emails from prospective and current families
- Monitor and respond to comments, direct messages, and tags on our Facebook and Instagram pages
- Follow up on new leads within 1 business day
- Manage our CRM: log every family interaction (calls, emails, and social media), track lead status, and keep family records current
- Triage billing questions from parents, including ESA scholarship, payment status, and past-due accounts
- Schedule tours and engage in enrollment conversations
- Help families understand our program, pricing, and enrollment process
- Maintain a weekly communication log for the owner

YOU'D BE A GOOD FIT IF...
- You know and love our program.
- You're comfortable on the phone and genuinely like talking with parents.
- CRM experience helps, but if you've used spreadsheets or scheduling tools, you'll pick it up fast.
- Familiarity with homeschooling is a big plus.

COMPENSATION AND SCHEDULE
$18-25/hour, 20-25 hours/week to start with potential to expand.
We built this schedule for homeschool parents. You'll cover 2–3 consistent phone blocks per week (days negotiable), plus flexible admin hours you can fit around your family's schedule. Voicemails, messages, comments, and new leads just need a response within 1 business day.

Over the weekend, some of our teachers (and a curriculum writer, not photographed!) attended Arts Educators Day at Phoenix Art Museum! We had the opportunity to think deeply about curiosity, human connection, and the natural role art plays in developing both. We also explored practical art skills, techniques, and teaching practices that we can bring directly into our classrooms.

At STEAM Studios, we believe teachers should remain curious learners too. Experiences like this give our team fresh ideas and new ways to create meaningful learning experiences for our students.

We returned inspired, energized, and ready to pass that inspiration along! Thank you, Phoenix Art Museum , for investing in educators and reminding us of the powerful role art plays in learning and our daily lives if we let it in 💛

After two years of serving homeschool families in Surprise and Goodyear, STEAM Studios is opening a new Glendale location on September 23! We are SO excited to share this new space with others! It is going to be an amazing place to learn.

But because this is a brand-new community for us, many local families simply do not know we are here yet.

World Academy is for the kids who love to build, create, investigate, draw, design, and ask a million questions. Students learn history, geography, science, engineering, and art through one connected regional theme and this year, we are exploring Oceania!

Our new Glendale location is officially enrolling and classes begin September 23!

World Academy is our K-12, hands-on homeschool enrichment program where students explore one region of the world through history, geography, literature, art, science, engineering, and technology.

This year we are traveling through Oceania! Students will investigate its islands and oceans, learn about the people and cultures of the Pacific, conduct experiments, design and build, create art, and explore big ideas alongside other homeschoolers.

Classes are divided by age so students can learn at an appropriate level while still sharing the experience as a community.

If your child is always drawing, designing, building, experimenting, or asking, “What if we tried it this way?” they will feel right at home here. World Academy gives creative thinkers and problem-solvers a place to use those strengths while learning alongside other homeschoolers.

We have some big news...it has been a collaboration effort behind the scenes that we have been working on for years and now we can finally tell you all...

We have a permanent home coming soon to Glendale!!!

This is a place for us to gather. To teach our kids as a friends and neighbors. To host events. To be active in the communities around us. To homeschool.

And with many of our World Academy classes in Surprise and Goodyear already full, we’re opening preregistration for World Academy at our new Glendale location now (beginning mid September).
