At STEAM Studios, we teach three classes: Literature, Art, STEAM, and World Cultures - all through the practice of arts integration.

We believe that art is the first step to seeing and thinking creatively, that STEM is the basis for problem-solving.

One of my favorite things about writing next year's Oceania curriculum is finding questions that don't have easy answers.

Did missionaries really cause the decline of traditional Hawaiian surfing? 🏄

Many people assume the answer is yes. But historians have discovered the story is much more complicated.

When Europeans arrived in Hawaii, enormous changes followed. New diseases devastated the indigenous population. A growing trade economy changed daily life. Political systems shifted. Labor demands increased. All of these factors affected traditional cultural practices, including surfing.

Some missionaries did criticize surfing because they believed students should spend more time in school and less time in the ocean. Others objected to social customs associated with surfing. But many historians now argue that blaming missionaries alone oversimplifies a much larger story of cultural, economic, and political change.

This is exactly the kind of question our 6th–12th grade World Academy students explore. They'll examine primary sources, compare historical perspectives, and evaluate evidence for themselves.

History gets a lot more interesting when you realize the answer isn't always in the back of the book.

Our first summer camp is coming up! This is a great camp for all artists and engineers K-8 to spend time learning all about space while creating art and learning some real science in makerspace.

We would love to have you join us June 8th-11th in Surprise 💛

We’re still reminiscing about our End-of-Year Expo and Potluck last week.

Our students put so much thought, creativity, and hard work into their final projects, and it was incredible getting to see them share the topics, inventions, stories, traditions, and ideas that stood out most to them from our year studying China.

From engineering builds and artwork to research displays, writing projects, models, and presentations, every project reflected the personality and interests of the student who created it. One of the best parts of World Academy is watching students take what they’ve learned throughout the year and turn it into something meaningful and uniquely their own.

Thank you to all of the families who brought food, helped set up, encouraged students, and celebrated with us. The rooms were full of conversation, excitement, and community, and it was such a special way to close out the year together.

We’re so proud of our students and everything they accomplished this year. We hope to see you next year for Oceania 💛

What a great morning spent together at our STEAM Studios Spring Recital! 🌷☀️

We are so proud of our students for sharing all they’ve been learning and working on together with Ms. Wolf. Our vocal ensemble performed part of a song in Mandarin! Thank you to all of the families and friends who came out to support and celebrate their performers. This community is so special! 💛

Stay cool and hydrated this weekend, and thank you for being here with us.

Here is the perfect blend of global learning and STEM for your weekend:

Sponge City: An Ecosystem Engineering Case Study | The Future of Nature

"This case study clip presents a nature-based, ecosystem engineering solution designed by landscape architect Kongjian Yu for the city of Haikou, in China. Yu rewilded rivers that flow through the city, designing a landscape similar to the terraced rice paddies where he grew up. This new landscape acts like a sponge, slowing the flow of stormwater and cleaning urban runoff pollutants that were threatening the health of the Dongzhai National Nature Reserve downriver."

What will your child learn next year?

At STEAM Studios, learning goes deeper than facts and dates. If you want your child to think deeply, create boldly, and love learning — STEAM Studios was built for them.

For the 2026-2027 school year, our K-12 students will explore Oceania through hands-on projects, peer collaboration, and real academic discussions. Students here don't just study the world. They start to understand it.

Enrollment is open now for the 2026-2027 school year and we would love to welcome your family to ours.
