I am still trying to process the news.

My heart is heavy knowing that the world has lost one of the most extraordinary plaster relief sculptors of our time, Goga Tandashvili.

Although we never had the opportunity to meet in person, we shared many conversations over the years. Beyond his incredible talent, I came to know him as a devoted father who spoke with such love and admiration for his two beautiful daughters. You could see that love woven throughout his artwork. His sculptures weren’t just masterpieces of technique—they carried pieces of his heart.

I had been looking forward to finally meeting him this November. As a gift to myself for my birthday, I had planned a trip to take one of his classes. I was so excited to learn from someone whose work had inspired me for so many years.

To hear that he is gone has left me stunned. It doesn’t seem real.

The art world has lost a true master, but more importantly, his family has lost a loving father, and those who knew him personally have lost someone they cherished. My heart breaks most for his daughters, whom he loved so deeply.

Goga, thank you for your generosity, your encouragement, and for sharing your remarkable gift with the world. Your work has inspired artists across continents, and your influence will continue to live on in every artist whose life you touched—including mine.

May you rest in peace, dear friend. Your hands are now still, but the beauty you created will continue to speak for generations.

My deepest prayers are with your daughters, your family, and everyone who loved you. ❤️
