When things get hard, you can validate your feelings without disempowering yourself. Your life is supposed to be hard sometimes, and you get to decide whether you will show yourself you can get through it or fall victim to it. You are human, be gentle with yourself, and it will bring you strength.
Positive thoughts serve you, but what if you get so caught up in the belief that you need to be positive that you end up putting yourself down for it? That's what I call toxic positivity. It's healthier to let go of the judgment and allow for negative emotion.
Parents, when you make your child's disobedience mean something bad about you as a parent, you will resent your child. Having well communicated consequences lined up with their actions takes away your need to harbor any negative energy towards them. You get to create that structure for your child while loving them.
When you become defensive, you are no longer empowering yourself. When you let go of other peoples thoughts and allow for your own imperfections, you will go the distance.
