Today, Brunswick County Schools recognized some outstanding leaders across our district, and we are especially proud that our very own Teacher of the Year, Coach James Shankle, was among those honored.

Coach Shankle is a true cornerstone of the CGMS community. His unwavering work ethic, dedication to students, and commitment to our school are evident in everything he does. Each day, he brings passion, enthusiasm, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact on the lives of our students.

As an exceptional teacher, mentor, coach, and leader, Coach Shankle inspires those around him to strive for excellence. His influence extends far beyond the classroom and athletic fields, leaving a lasting impact on our students, staff, and community.

Today, we were filled with pride, joy, and excitement as seniors from West Brunswick High School Trojans returned to Cedar Grove Middle School for a special visit. Seeing these amazing students walk the halls again reminds us how quickly time flies and how bright their futures truly are!

From middle school memories to senior year accomplishments, these students have grown into incredible young adults ready to take on the world. We are so proud of all they have achieved and cannot wait to see the impact they will make in the future.

🏅 Celebrating Our CGMS Bulldogs! 🏅

Last night’s CGMS Athletic Awards Ceremony was an incredible celebration of dedication, teamwork, sportsmanship, and Bulldog pride! Every athlete was recognized for their hard work and commitment by receiving a medal, and our coaches proudly presented several special awards to honor outstanding achievements throughout the season.

A huge congratulations to our Male Co-Athletes of the Year, Connor Gomez and Wyatt Spivey, and our Female Athlete of the Year, Brooklynn Miller! Your leadership, determination, and excellence both on and off the field truly represent the best of CGMS athletics. 👏🏆

We are so proud of all of our Bulldog athletes for the effort, heart, and school spirit they showed this year. Thank you to our coaches, our athletic director, Coach Shankle, our families, and supporters for making this season unforgettable!

We had an amazing Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week at Cedar Grove Middle School!

A huge THANK YOU to our incredible community, families, local businesses, and supporters for helping make this week so special for our teachers and staff. Your generosity and kindness mean so much to us!

Our staff enjoyed an exciting Underground Spirit Week, delicious breakfasts and lunches, daily treats, and fun raffle baskets throughout the week. Most importantly, our teachers and staff felt appreciated, valued, and celebrated for all they do each day for our students.

On Wednesday, May 6th, our CGMS Choirs performed their spring concert, "Songs in the Sky" for an enthusiastic audience. Selections included song titles of traditional folk tunes such as "Yonder Come Day", and "Banaha" as well as traditional spirituals "Shine On Me" and "Didn't My Lord Deliver Daniel.” All choirs performed the finale "Lovely Day" together. The concert featured several soloists, guests and student musicians. Awards following the performance included student recognition for choral leadership, All County Chorus and outstanding soprano, alto and baritone. Special thanks to CGMS Administration, CGMS Elective Team, Ms. Palm, Ms. Hottle, Ms. Harmon, Mr. Holleman, Mr. Wantuch,CGMS custodial staff, Deputy Mason and other Brunswick County SROs for their support. Mrs. Pruitt is so proud of our singers and their preparation for the Spring performance!

ELA test prep, coding edition:

Eighth graders had the opportunity to work through ELA test taking strategies with Ozobots today. They got practice in pacing themselves, working with high level vocabulary, and annotating text sections. A very special thanks to our DLS, Ms. Valand, for her help! Great job, Bulldogs!
