Dr. Sherika Guidry-Simon is the new Principal at Sunset Middle School and a Licensed Professional Counselor. A native of Carencro, Louisiana, she brings a wealth of experience and dedication to the community.
After graduating from ULL of Lafayette in 2007 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Elementary Education and a minor in Special Education, Dr. Simon has relentlessly pursued further education. She holds Master’s degrees in Educational Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction from the American College
of education, and a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Her academic journey accumulated with a doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision, equipping her with a robust set of skills to lead and inspire.
As a leader she served three years at Plaisance Elementary as an Administrative Assistant, six years at Sunset Middle School as an Assistant Principal, and two years as the Principal of Opelousas Junior High School. She is dedicated to bringing back a positive learning climate to the Community of Sunset.
Dr. Simon deeply values family and community. She is a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success and the Counseling Honor Society, reflecting her commitment to high standards and continuous improvement.
