Join us for one of the oldest Juneteenth Festivals in Texas!

The Juneteenth Celebration is on!!!!! Join Pvt. Mack on June 19th, 2026 to celebrate Juneteenth with Limestone County at the historic Booker T Washington Park.

The Emancipation Proclamation was read from the front porch of the Stroud’s plantation home near Mexia, TX in June 1865. Freedmen from the area began to hold annual Juneteenth celebrations at a site along the Navasota River called Comanche Crossing now known as Booker T. Washington Park. This is one of the earliest known places for Juneteenth celebrations in Texas and the United States. It was designated by the Texas Historical Commission as a Historic Site and still serves as a celebration ground for the annual 19th of June festivities.
