Update about the surprise retirement party for Danny:

Meeting time: This Friday February 11 at 4:30pm PT
Surprise Danny Time: 4:45pm PT
Meeting place: Paint Room in the Creative Arts Center

"We can hold the gathering out of the Paint Room in the CAC. Danny won't be able to see everyone gathering if they go around the side of the building (next to the upper pond where the sculpture is) and enter through the sliding glass doors. We can also set up some tables and chairs outside next to the pond. Let me know if you have any questions. 408-730-7758. Kristin."

Park and go towards the left to meet at the Painting studio. Please do not meet in the Pottery studio. We will surprise Danny in the Painting studio. Refer to the attached map.

COVID Measures: Please stay masked during this event, and do not come if you are feeling unwell.

Hi everyone,

Hope you've been doing well these past two crazy years.

After the millionth question about why the glaze firing didn't yield the expected results, that was the last straw for Danny; he is retiring. His last day will be Friday, February 11.

Danny Sheu's teaching over the past decades has impacted so many people's lives that it feels appropriate to do a COVID-safe outdoor gathering to show our appreciation. We plan to have a surprise gathering at 4:30pm on Friday (February 11) to celebrate his going away. Obviously, this is a surprise event so please do not mention anything to Danny beforehand. That said, I hope he doesn't follow this Facebook group...

There is an ongoing email thread about planning for this event, so feel free to respond here, or message privately, if you would like to be added to the thread. Likewise if you cannot attend the event but would like to have a message forwarded to him on the day. Otherwise, we hope to see you there in 9 days. Maybe we can pester Danny for one more demo! :)

Hi All,

Unfortunately, due to the health crisis, the Open Studio and Class sessions will be cancelled until April 5th. Emails from the City of Sunnyvale have declared the following:

"We regret to inform you that due to SCC Public Health guidelines, effective immediately all programs and facility rentals with the City of Sunnyvale are to be cancelled through April 5, 2020"

I also reached out to Danny to double confirm if "programs and facility rentals" included Open Studio. His response: "EVERYTHING CANCELLED INCLUDE OPEN STUDIO TILL APRIL 5!"

And there we have it. We feared this day would come, but not this soon. Stay home, stay healthy, and hopefully we'll be back in the studio next month!

Hello! The studio is going to be closed on Labor Day Monday (September 2nd) and Saturday (September 14th) for the Sunnyvale State of the City fair. Come visit Danny at the fair!

Hello. The studio will be closed for 2 weeks, 6/24-7/7, resuming on Monday 7/8. Get your hands dirty while you still can.
