Last year I created an end-of year reflection workbook for language learners because a few of my students were struggling to see their progress. It made me pause and think… because as their teacher I could clearly see how their speaking had transformed over one year! 🤔
It is difficult to see your own progress. Things might be changing but sometimes you are too close to see what’s happening. This was the original inspiration for the workbook.
I’ve learned how important it is to take a step back, reflect, and build a solid learning plan for the next year.
This year I partnered up with my friend and inspirer/cowriter to give this workbook a major upgrade! Jess has inspired me tremendously as a language learner and a teacher because she so deeply cares about reflecting on culture while she studies languages. She contributes to the IG language learning community and openly shares her journey learning Mandarin out of love for her husband and his family.
We spent weeks analyzing how we approach language leaplanning, celebrating wins, risk taking, and finding meaning in language learning to create this workbook.
⭐️ So who is this for?
Teachers, students, and self-learners, welcome! This workbook will work best for intermediate and up learners in any language. The goal is to reflect so you can build a solid learning plan for next year. We believe that language learners get results faster when the teacher and student are on the same page about goals & progress.
⭐️If you plan to complete it and then share your reflections with a teacher, we recommend using the workbook as an end-of-year writing or speaking lesson (or series of lessons). Teachers can recommend it to their students or students can bring it to their teacher. Most importantly, this workbook can help you get on the same page.
⭐️If you plan to use it to enhance your self-study methods, this workbook can be used as both a guiding force to clarify your needs as a student as well as validate that you’re using the right methods as a teacher.
You can find the workbook link in my bio.

How to Build Confidence to Speak in English
I talked to three inspiring U.S. immigrants and asked them:
-What is your #1 advice on building confidence for someone learning and speaking English as a second language in the U.S.?
-What is your #1 advice on how to continue taking small steps toward your life goals without English holding you back?
-What is something you do or say on a daily basis that only U.S. immigrants would get?
I feel honored to introduce these people to you. They have all braved years of mistakes, taken many small risks, and dealt with cultural and language barriers along the way.
