Otterbein Christian Preschool and Daycare

Most of you should know me pretty well. I no longer accept very many friends because I feel it’s not for me. And of late not a fan of the platform. Almost every FB friend I have known on some level, you are not just a number. But if you are still on my FB, it’s because we have some connection. I would love to see if we can still chat more than just likes... I decided to participate in an experience called “Meeting between Bowls of rice”. The idea is to see who reads a post without a photo. We are so consumed with technology that we forget one of the most important things: good friendship. If no one is reading this message, it will be a short social experiment. But if you finish this till the end, I would love you to comment in ONE WORD about us. For example, a place, an object, a person, a moment in which you remember us. Then copy this post and post it on your page (don’t share) and I’ll go to your page and leave a word that reminds me of you. Please don’t comment if you don’t have time to copy the text. This will destroy the experiment. Let’s see who spent their time to read and respond according to the common story.

To all our Daycare Parents...

We will resume normal operation hours on the morning of Thursday, September 2, 2021. Please let us know if you will not be sending your child if we are expecting him/her.

Be safe and keep those who are experiencing difficulties at this time in your prayers.

We are still looking for compassionate, loving care givers for our daycare. If you can spare a few hours a week we'd love to hear from you. The daycare is a faith based facility open to all.

The first day of preschool will be here before we know it. If you have not registered your child yet, please do so by August 6. We still have room in our M-W-F class for 4/5 year-olds where the focus is Kindergarten readiness. Call Beth at 570-286-7651 to be sure your child is enrolled on time.

Dear Otterbein Preschool and Daycare Family,
It is with seriously mixed feelings that I am writing to you. I have recently celebrated 19 years and began my 20th year at daycare. It certainly does not seem at all possible that this much time has passed.
We've been through a lot together. Some helped me get through the passing of both my parents within 5 weeks of each other, through my husband's (Wyman aka Mr. Hoyt) cancer and quadruple bypass surgery, daughter's moving away and so on. Without your prayers and compassionate support, I could not have continued.
Now it is time for me to move on. As of June 18, you will not see me at Otterbein. I will be taking vacation until retirement July 9. I am not sure what God has in store for me next, but I take with me many memories and they are good ones.
For all that have journeyed with me throughout my tenure I thank-you for allowing me to have a part in your child's life. Their smiling faces and awesome hugs and cuddles have been sheer blessings. It's been a joy to watch them discover new things, learning the "Pledge" and the song "America," to share my faith and love of God in the bible stories and songs, to help them discover the love that God has for them, to pray with them and for them, to taste new things and smelling smelly things their reactions were priceless.
And I can't forget the special days we shared: our traditional Thanksgiving dinner with Pilgrims and Indians while we feasted on chicken nuggets, French fries and ice cream, sharing our Christmas songs with our loved ones, Beach Day (best day ever!), pajama day (another best day ever!!) and so on.
So many memories and little hearts full of love. Thank-you for enriching my life.
