Celebrating our very own Anna Acker, Terrapin Art Teacher! 🎨🐢
We applaud you for all you do for our school and our Terrapins! We love the compassion, creativity, and energy you bring to the art room every day. Thank you for making the art room such a fun, welcoming, and inspiring place for our students!
Congratulations to Anna Acker, Token Springs Elementary, Sun Prairie, WI, for being recognized as the Wisconsin Art Education Association October 2026 Art Teacher of the Month!
Anna Acker has been an elementary art educator in Sun Prairie Schools for 17 years and currently teaches at Token Springs Elementary. Throughout her years in education, she has been committed to providing meaningful and accessible art experiences for every student. While Anna enjoys painting and working with a variety of media in her own artwork, she finds her greatest joy in creating art with her students.
Anna is a strong advocate for inclusive art education and believes every student should have the opportunity to participate in and experience the visual arts. Her teaching practices support students with a wide range of abilities, including those with significant and complex disabilities. She considers sensory needs, motor access, communication, positioning, materials, and student choice when planning art experiences.
Her commitment to inclusion extends beyond the classroom. Anna’s master’s research focused on increasing access to art for students with disabilities through multisensory experiences and assistive technology. She has also helped secure adaptive art tools for classrooms throughout the district and provided professional development for fellow art educators.
Through her teaching, research, leadership, and community involvement, Anna continues to demonstrate the value of art education in developing creativity, confidence, critical thinking, and a sense of belonging for all students.
