Melodiya Piano Academy SP's only Piano Academy focused on Performance, Theory, and Technique. http://www.sunprairiepiano.com I work with students of all ages- including adults.

Melodiya is a belief that if given the right tools, encouraged with a positive attitude, and provided appropriate opportunities, students will excel within every step they take towards their chosen path in life. Students receive tailored weekly piano lessons with goals in mind for each individual. I provide many opportunities for performing and competing, and work on weekly theory and technical assignments. Parents are always encouraged to attend and serve as practice partners at home. One is never too old to learn! I especially welcome transfer students.

Welcome back, piano students!

I hope you are ready to dive into a new season of music. Whether you’re returning to the keys after a break or continuing right where we left off, I’m so glad to have you back for the fall/winter semester.

Lessons resume today: September 14.

This is going to be an exciting time of growth, discovery, and (of course) lots of beautiful music. I can’t wait to hear how you’ve been practicing, explore new pieces together, and keep building those skills—one note at a time.

Let’s make this semester musical, focused, and full of those satisfying “I finally got it!” moments.

Welcome back, piano students!

I hope you are ready to dive into a new season of music. Whether you’re returning to the keys after a break or continuing right where we left off, I’m so glad to have you back for the fall/winter semester.

From your arrival as a transfer student before COVID, through the challenges of online learning during the pandemic, to your return to in-person classes and successful completion of your high school career— you have shown remarkable resilience and dedication.
Our studio is losing a truly special person to the University. We will miss your talent, your positive spirit, and your presence dearly. We’ve braved many seasons together, and it has been a joy to watch you grow.

Today’s generation is so fortunate to have immediate access to an expansive world of music! Developing a discerning ear for classical repertoire, however, requires intentional listening—engaging with master performers and thoughtfully reflecting on personal responses in order to cultivate an informed sense of style, interpretation, and expression.
Students beginning their study of composers such as Chopin are encouraged to listen to a wide range of performances. They are asked to document their observations in detail, noting elements such as timing, dynamics, phrasing, and the overall narrative arc of the piece. Every composition tells a story, and much of that story is conveyed through subtle variations in timing and interpretation.
Listening, in this context, is not passive; it is a disciplined practice, comparable to foundational training in athletics. Just as an athlete refines technique through repetition, students train their ears to recognize what makes a performance compelling, nuanced, and truly exceptional. Pictured is a snap shot of my current student's journal and her observations of performers.

The First and only American to be awarded a top prize at the Chopin International Piano Competition on Period Instruments (Warsaw, Poland 2023)

The Salon Piano Series is proud to present a very special masterclass with acclaimed pianist Angie Zhang on Sunday April 19 at 4:00 PM, held at Farley's House of Pianos.
Two outstanding student pianists will perform works by Claude Debussy and Ukrainian composer, Nikolai Kapustin. This engaging and educational masterclass is free and open to the public.

We encourage you to add this special event to your calendar in addition to attending Angie Zhang’s performance on Saturday April 18 at 7:30 PM.

Recognized as one of the finest piano series in the Madison area, the Salon Piano Series brings both emerging and established local, national, and international artists to the community.
