Our first two days of KAT were AMAZING! 💚🐾

We have so many new faces this year, and our scholars are already exploring, creating, and building community together!

🌿 Scholars headed outside for a nature scavenger hunt and turned their discoveries into creative nature art collages.

🎨 Our younger scholars worked together on mosaic coloring, seeing how everyone’s individual piece can come together to create something beautiful — just like our KAT community!

📚 We also welcomed the Dream Bus! Scholars toured the bus, explored all it has to offer, and Mr. Ricardo shared the advantages of having a library card and all the opportunities it can unlock.

This is Community Schools in action — bringing learning, creativity, relationships, and community partners together to create meaningful opportunities beyond the school day and help our scholars Belong, Grow & Lead at our school! 💚

Happy Community School Site Coordinator Week to Cindy!

Cindy, we could not ask for a more dedicated, compassionate, and inspiring leader for our Community Schools Program. The care and commitment you show to our students, staff, families, and the entire Westside community are truly incredible.

Thank you for the meaningful programs and opportunities you bring to our students and families, and for creating such a loving and welcoming space in the Community Schools Room. It truly has become the living room of Westside, and that is because of you.

Cindy, we are so grateful for you and all that you do! If you see her this week, please take a moment to share some love with her in return for all the love she gives to us. 💚

Families, we need your help!

This week, we sent home our Rise & Roar Attendance Commitment with every Wildcat. So far, 97 of our 352 scholars (27.6%) have returned theirs signed BUT we want to see MORE of our families make this commitment with us!

We know that when scholars come to school every day and on time, they have more opportunities to learn, build strong relationships, feel connected, and truly belong to their school community. Every day matters.

We’re starting strong with 95.2% average daily attendance, and our goal is to stay 90% or higher all year long! Remember, missing just 2 days of school each month can add up to chronic absenteeism.

💚 Check those backpacks this weekend! Talk about the commitment as a family, sign it together, and send it back next week.

You have ONE MORE WEEK before the Prize Wagon makes its next round next Friday! 🐾

🐾 We have the best Wildcat community! 🐾

Even with a little mist, we had a wonderful turnout for our Back to School Bash! Thank you to all of our families who came out to connect, enjoy some food, and have fun together.

One of our favorite parts of the night was seeing so many former Wildcats come back! From middle schoolers and high schoolers to former students who are now parents themselves! Our Wildcat community reaches far beyond the walls of Westside, and we love that no matter how much time passes, they still know…

🐾💚Once a Wildcat, ALWAYS a Wildcat! 💚🐾

We can’t wait to see what this school year brings!
