Our fifth graders became scientists as they tested different types of leaves to see how their coverings react in wet and dry environments. They made predictions, observed closely, and discovered both expected and surprising results!
๐ Some leaves absorbed water, while others didnโt.
๐ง Money plant leaves actually formed a suction cup in a small puddle of waterโand even held water when turned upside down!
๐ฟ The fuzzy surface of the African violet seemed to hold water in place instead of allowing it to be absorbed.
๐ Coleus leaves became noticeably darker when wet.
๐ฆ A drop of water held its shape right on top of an elephant ear leaf!
Hands-on investigations like this are a great way for our students to practice observing, questioning, and discovering how amazing Godโs creation can be. ๐ฑโค๏ธ
