On behalf of the Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, students, administration, and the alumni Morris College in Sumter, SC, I want to thank you, Drs. Pastor Jamal Bryant, , and the entire New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, for your commitment to higher education.

Today, we awarded over 40 "Last Dollar scholarships" to 40 impressively brilliant young men and women who said that they want to attend a college where:

1. They are not just a number. They will be known at Morris College
2. That it is not just about getting a degree. At Morris College, we are committed to helping them to discover their purpose.
3. They don’t have to wait to lead. At Morris College, you can and we expect them to lead now.

As I say all the time, "Don’t just choose a college… choose a place that chooses you. We at Morris College want you to join our family."

As part of our strategic commitment to addressing deferred maintenance, supporting our outstanding faculty, and creating a conducive learning environment for our amazing students at Morris College in Sumter, SC, I am proud to showcase the improvements in Wilson-Booker Hall (Science Building), specifically upgrading all restrooms and implementing energy-efficient lighting (after and the before). 🛑🚧

President Sewell post….Morris College in Sumter, SC was pleased to host the Jr Air Force ROTC Summer Camp for the third time. These young men and women came from eight high schools and spent an entire week on our campus, from living in our residence to eating in the dining hall to taking classes in our academic halls. I am pleased to have awarded 5 scholarships to five amazingly brilliant students.

Many of you have been asking about the upcoming Morris College SWARMCOMING 2026 events. We are excited to share that the schedule released so far is just the beginning! Additional activities, registration details, special guests, and event information will be announced in the coming weeks.

What is SWARMCOMING?
SWARMCOMING is Morris College's exciting reimagined Homecoming experience—a week-long celebration where alumni, students, faculty, staff, supporters, and friends return to "The Hive" to reconnect, celebrate our rich history, honor our traditions, and create new memories together. It is a time when Hornets from near and far come together to showcase our pride, spirit, and commitment to Morris College.

From pep rallies and talent showcases to the Outstanding Alumni Gala, Hornets on the Tee, the Swarm Parade, basketball games, concerts, and the Gospel Brunch, SWARMCOMING is where Legacy, Culture, and Excellence come alive!

We appreciate your enthusiasm and excitement. Please be patient as we finalize additional details and opportunities for everyone to participate.

President Said Sewell...UPDATE...The work is going well on Morris College in Sumter, SC's W.O.W. (Welcome to Our World) initiative.

This initiative will create a beautiful, inspiring gateway that reflects the new movement at the college, excellence, pride, and the promise of Morris College.

The new entrance to our campus is more than a roadway. It is the first statement of who Morris College is, what we value, and where we are headed.

We look forward to the ribbon-cutting ceremony in late June.
