Edmunds High School Website Project

A couple of years ago, Jenny and I were invited to have dinner in Winston-Salem at the home of 86 year-old, Robert Leland “Bobby” Dixon (EHS 1958). Bobby has to be the most intelligent and interesting person I’ve ever met … and he calls me a genius! He has a Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics and is a professor emeritus at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He’s also known as “Captain Midnight”, a self-taught airshow daredevil jet pilot flying an old Russian fighter jet. The email his younger brother Jobie (EHS 1961) sent him is truly EPIC.
For anyone interested, here is the link to Bobby’s info on the Edmunds High website…

Everyone remember Class of 1940 - Jennie Hill. She passed away on August 10, 2025. She was a "Centenarian", living 102 years. She was one of 40, so far, out of 16,116 total Edmunds/Sumter High alumni. Wow, only .2%, so far. That's 1/50 of 1% of us become "Centenarians". Congrats Jennie!

This morning my email has been held hostage by an alumnus from the class of 1969. I will not mention his name but I will remove him permanently from the Edmunds website if he does not stop this. This person has sent HUNDREDS of emails which has crippled my email and they just keep coming. It’s the same email sent over and over again. I can’t stop it from my end and I have asked my email provider to block him on their side. In the email he states that I have not responded to an email that he sent out around May of last year. He wants his picture and his wife’s picture (who is also an alumni) changed to ones of them when they are younger. I generally have no problem doing that but I WILL NOT BE INTIMADATED TO DO SO!
I work very hard, every day, on this website for all of you and your families. I ask for very little, actually nothing at all. I try to juggle this with my life, my family and my friends. There are over 15 thousand alumni that I am dealing with. It’s a huge amount of work. Sometimes I wonder why I continue to do it. I truly hate drama and try to avoid it whenever I see it. I have a lot on my plate and am very sorry if I don’t or can’t respond to your email right away.

I’m still a big kid and I have always love Kaleidoscopes. Just for fun I threw together some code to generate a kaleidoscope effect on the website. I also added a link to it on the bulletin board right under the crossword puzzle. I also added a heart button on the button bar on the top that links to it. I just love the effect. Check it out!
