Mrs. Ramona Wright’s Spanish 2 students created Personal Coats of Arms representing their personalities, interests, favorite places, hobbies, and the things that matter most to them.

Students practiced Spanish vocabulary, writing, and communication skills while designing unique coats of arms and writing personal mottos and short essays explaining their choices. From hand-drawn artwork to digital designs and photographs, every project was as unique as the student who created it!

We are proud of our students for using Spanish to express who they are, celebrate what they love, and share their stories.

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, students in Mrs. Laura Moldovan’s Spanish 2 classes teamed up with talented peer Joselyn Sanchez-Munoz to create a vibrant mural celebrating the rich traditions, histories, perspectives, and cultural contributions of Hispanic communities.

Through “Behind the Single Story: Exploring Narratives and Cultural Diversity,” students explored stories and traditions from across the Spanish-speaking world—from Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera to Aztec and Mayan civilizations, La Catrina, Pura Vida, Puerto Rico’s El Yunque and La Plena, Guatemalan markets, Mapuche history, and so much more.

The mural brings their learning to life through Aztec and Mayan symbols, cultural elements, handmade flowers, and crafted Ojos de Dios, creating a beautiful expression of student voice, creativity, and intercultural understanding.

We are proud of our Gamecocks for using their choice and voice to tell stories beyond the single story!

🤼‍♂️ WELCOME HOME, COACH AMAKER! 💙💛

Sumter High School Athletics is proud to announce Andre Amaker as the new Head Coach of the Sumter High School Wrestling program! 🐔

Coach Amaker is no stranger to the Gamecock family. A former Sumter High wrestler, he knows firsthand the tradition, pride, hard work, and expectations that come with wearing the blue and gold.

Following his time at Sumter High, Coach Amaker continued his athletic career at Newberry College, where he competed as a collegiate football player.

Now, Coach Amaker returns home to give back to the program and community that helped shape him. We are excited to see his leadership, passion, and competitive spirit guide the next generation of Gamecock wrestlers.

Please join us in welcoming Coach Andre Amaker back home and congratulating him on this new chapter! 💙💛🤼‍♂️

What happens when a strong argument leaves the page and hits the podcast? Gamecock students make it happen!

Mr. Jessrel Gilbuena’s English 3 students transformed their argument writing projects into engaging video-podcast episodes, bringing their ideas and perspectives to life!

Students showcased their writing, speaking, collaboration, and technology skills as they explored school-related issues, considered different viewpoints, and practiced the art of compromise. Some even took their projects a step further with creative video editing!

We are proud of our Gamecocks for turning their voices into impact!
