‼️HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MRS. MILLER!‼️

Today, we’re celebrating someone who makes Sumrall Middle School a better place just by being part of it!

Mrs. Carmon Miller is so much more than our school counselor. She is an advocate, a cheerleader, a problem-solver, a listening ear, and a constant source of encouragement for our students, staff, and families. She has a heart for kids, and it shows in everything she does!

In addition to serving as our school counselor, Mrs. Miller leads our SMS Ambassadors, helping our students grow as leaders, build confidence, serve others, and represent our school with pride!

As last year’s Counselor of the Year and a recent honoree at Southern Miss’s Extra Yard for Teachers celebration, Mrs. Miller continues to receive well-deserved recognition for her incredible work. But what makes her truly special isn’t the awards or accolades. It’s the countless ways she shows up for our students and makes a difference every single day!

Mrs. Miller, we are incredibly fortunate to have you on our team! We hope your birthday is filled with as much joy, kindness, and love as you bring to our Bobcat family!

We need our fans to show up!! Please make a note of both of these game times! Our volleyball girls are on the road to the Championship… next game is against Purvis Tornadoes at home Thursday night at 6:00pm. Be there! Friday our first football district face off is against South Jones. We will kickoff at 4:00pm. This is in an effort to beat the weather before it rolls in!

We’ve had an incredible start to the school year, and now it’s time to rest, recharge, and enjoy the start of the autumn season! We wish all of our amazing students and families a fun and relaxing week off!

Culture took the stage at SMS!

Our 8th Grade Geography classes put their creativity and knowledge to work in a Cultural Parody Song Challenge! Working in small groups, they researched an assigned country and transformed a familiar song into an original parody featuring what they learned about its people, traditions, beliefs, language, and way of life. Then, it was time to take the stage and share their creations with their classmates!

The audience had an important role, too! Using a rubric, classmates evaluated each presentation, and their scores determined the winning team from each class.
