Our Sumner High School Marching Band and Colorguard students had the opportunity to perform for the community - and everyone watching live - and showcase their talent. As part of the feature, FOX 13 conducted a school supply drive that benefited our students. Thank you so much to our community for coming out to show their support!

In case you missed it... FOX 13 also interviewed our joint Bonney Lake High School and Sumner High School band directors about their upcoming trip to perform in the 2028 Rose Parade! Check that out: https://www.fox13seattle.com/video/fmc-t8796dd54liid9zv

Thank you, voters! 🪏 Construction has begun on Sumner High School Phase 2. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Tuesday, where staff, families, students and community partners gathered to celebrate.

With an anticipated completion date of Fall 2028, Phase 2 includes new classrooms, Career & Technical Education, Special Education classrooms, a new space for Tiny Sparts childcare, a greenhouse and additional parking.

"We're not just here celebrating a building today," said SHS junior Alli B. at the ceremony. "It's bigger than that. It's about our community, hope, and our future together. So thank you for your investment and hopes that our next Sumner High School is a place for everyone."

The Sumner High School Phase 2 project was made possible by voters in the 2024 Construction Bond. Learn more about the SHS Phase 2 and Phase 3 projects at sumnersd.org/SHSconstruction.

Music took Sumner High School students far beyond Washington this summer! 🎶

Sumner High School Choir Teacher Karlene Sandoval served as one of only two choral directors from the state of Washington selected to conduct with the Washington Ambassadors of Music, joining more than 80 student musicians from across the state for performances and cultural experiences in five European countries.

Three talented Sumner students — Stella A., Chloe F. and Harper H. — represented SHS internationally through music on the trip.

“Experiences like this remind us that music education extends far beyond the classroom,” Karlene shared. “It creates opportunities for students to see the world, build lifelong friendships, develop confidence and understand the powerful role that music can play in bringing people together.”

What an amazing opportunity! Read the full story by Karlene on our website: bit.ly/4zBRYCB 🌍🎵
