We couldn’t have asked for a better day! We had an absolute BLAST with our foam party and it ended with an impromptu karaoke session!

We had our final guest speaker today and it was very fitting for back to school. While we try to follow all the safety rules, accidents can happen and what a better way to learn about what steps to take then see and learn about it before it happens!
Holly did such a great job of explaining how our different departments work together when an emergency happens and that people are there to help you. Our students learned what to do if they see a parent in an emergency and who they should call or tell.
Thank you so much to all our volunteers in our community and SEMS for allowing us to see inside the ambulance. 🚑

Our two-year-olds have been diving into our Under the Sea theme with lots of hands-on learning! 🌊💙

One of their activities involved matching colorful beads to the correct colors and then stringing them onto pipe cleaners.

While they were having fun creating their colorful “sea treasures,” they were also strengthening their fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, color recognition, concentration, and problem-solving skills. 🧠✨

One of the sweetest things to witness is our kids recognizing the people and businesses that make our community so special.

From the utility crews and first responders to local businesses, community organizations, healthcare professionals, and volunteers, our children are making meaningful connections with the people who help our town thrive.

These experiences do so much more than create fun memories—they help our children understand that they are part of a caring, supportive community. They are learning about different careers, building confidence in meeting new people, and discovering that there are so many individuals who genuinely care about them.
Our schoolagers drew and wrote about different places around town that are special to them. Some days it’s hard to see the difference you are making but this reiterates the impact you have!

Every gift makes a difference as we work toward building a safe, inclusive, and engaging playground for the children at Sumner Daycare and Learning Center!

There are several ways you can support this important project:
• Mail a regular monetary donation to PO Box 301 Sumner,IA 50674
• Donate grain and designate the proceeds to our playground fund.
• Honor a loved one with a memorial donation.
• Give through your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) if you’re eligible. You won’t have to pay taxes since we are a non-profit 501(c)3.

If you’d like to contribute in any of these ways, we’d be happy to answer any questions and help make the process as simple as possible.

Don’t forget to mark your calendars for our upcoming Spaghetti Supper on October 20th! Join us for a delicious meal of spaghetti, breadstick and a bar while supporting our playground fundraiser. Every meal purchased helps bring us one step closer to creating an amazing outdoor space for the children in our care.

As part of our licensing and quality regulations, we are continually working to maintain safe, developmentally appropriate outdoor environments for the children we serve. This playground project is an important investment in meeting those standards while creating opportunities for children to learn, grow, and play.

Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness make the biggest difference. 💛

Our school-age friends spent time spreading encouragement by writing uplifting messages on Post-it notes for others to find. From kind words to cheerful reminders, they learned that a few thoughtful words can brighten someone’s day and make them feel valued.

We’re so proud of our schoolagers for choosing kindness, building empathy, and showing that encouragement doesn’t have to be grand—it just has to come from the heart. We hope their positive messages inspire smiles! 😊

A huge thank you to the Sumner Family Aquatic Center for visiting us and presenting an important water safety lesson. Our friends learned valuable tips about staying safe around pools and the importance of knowing the rules. Teaching water safety at a young age helps build confidence and awareness that can last a lifetime.

We also want to thank Bremer County Conservation for their hands-on WaterWorks activity! Our children loved exploring the different activities and learning different aspects of water. The interactive activities encouraged curiosity, critical thinking, and plenty of smiles!

Thank you for helping our children learn, grow, and stay safe this summer! 💙💧
