🍎🌳 Growing Little Minds at SDLC! 🌳🍎

We are so excited to share that Upper Iowa University chose Sumner Daycare and Learning Center for a grant that is helping us bring hands-on, nature-based learning right into our own backyard!

Thanks to this generous grant, we were able to purchase two apple trees, along with books, magnifying glasses, weather radios, and other classroom resources to help our children learn all about apple trees, weather, nature, and how things grow. 📚🔍🌦️🍎

But the best part? Our kids got to help plant the apple trees! 🥰🌱 They dug in the dirt, helped get the trees planted, and are now able to watch them grow right alongside them.

This gives our children an opportunity to learn through real experiences—observing changes throughout the seasons, watching for blossoms and apples, exploring insects and leaves, learning about weather, and understanding the care that goes into growing something from the ground up.

We are incredibly grateful to Upper Iowa University for investing in our children and helping us create meaningful learning experiences that go beyond the classroom.

We can’t wait to watch our little apple orchard grow! 🍎🌳

🍂 September, Where Did You Go?! 🍂

September sure got away from us, but that doesn't mean we haven't had some BIG things to celebrate here at Sumner Daycare and Learning Center! ❤️

As we look back on the past month, we have had some pretty special milestones worth recognizing!

🎉 FOUR YEARS OF SDLC! 🎉
We officially hit our FOUR-YEAR mark of operating! What started as a dream has grown into something so much bigger. Four years of little footsteps, big milestones, learning, laughter, friendships, and being part of so many families' lives. We are incredibly thankful for everyone who has been part of our journey!

💛 CELEBRATING OUR STAFF! 💛
We also celebrated TWO of our amazing teachers reaching their THREE-YEAR anniversaries with us! Three years of dedication, patience, love, and making a difference in the lives of our kiddos. We are so grateful to have both Paris and Kassidy as part of our SDLC family!

From celebrating milestones to watching our children grow, every month brings something new to be thankful for. Sometimes we get so caught up in the day-to-day that we forget to stop and appreciate just how far we've come!

Here's to four years behind us, many more ahead, and all the little moments in between that make what we do so special! 👣🚶‍♀️

🚂 ALL ABOARD! OUR PLAYGROUND TRAIN IS COMING TO LIFE! 🌳💛💙

We are SO excited to share the final design of our new playground at Sumner Daycare and Learning Center! What started as a dream is becoming a reality, and we are getting closer and closer to bringing this special space to our children and community!

Our train-themed playground is more than just a place to play. It represents opportunities for imagination, exploration, friendship, learning, and growth. Every child deserves a place where they feel welcomed, included, and able to participate in play!

❤️ INCLUSIVE PLAY MATTERS! 💛

This playground is being designed with ALL children in mind! With inclusive equipment, sensory opportunities, accessible play features, and spaces for children of different abilities, we are creating an environment where every child can experience the joy of play in their own way.

We believe play should never have limitations, and this playground is another step toward making sure every child has a place to belong!

💙 WE ARE 2/3 OF THE WAY THERE! 🚂

We have made incredible progress thanks to the generosity of our families, local businesses, organizations, grants, and community members. But we still need YOUR help to get us across the finish line!

We couldn’t have asked for a better day! We had an absolute BLAST with our foam party and it ended with an impromptu karaoke session!
We also had such a kind family who brought in Fueled by Faith for us as well!
This is a day that no only the kids will remember but all of us adults as well. 📚🚌✏️🥳

We had our final guest speaker today and it was very fitting for back to school. While we try to follow all the safety rules, accidents can happen and what a better way to learn about what steps to take then see and learn about it before it happens!
Holly did such a great job of explaining how our different departments work together when an emergency happens and that people are there to help you. Our students learned what to do if they see a parent in an emergency and who they should call or tell.
Thank you so much to all our volunteers in our community and SEMS for allowing us to see inside the ambulance. 🚑
